Windows Media Player: locating media, then "ready" message! HELP!

Hey
when trying to view a file i sometimes get connecting to media and then a "ready" meassage, but the damn file wont play. amnybody got an idea of how to fix this? I have WM10 downloaded, and am on XP.

Apologies,, I was perhaps over-eager for assistance. Posted in the movie section as its quasi-related (i was trying to watch the tv channels linked in the movie section when the problem occured).

use this version of media player classic i've yet to see something it wont play
