She better put the wrist strap back on that remote, lest she gets it lost in a place that it is not retrievable

Anyhoo...before this thread gets sucked into oblivion, we can safely assume PS3 wins although Kanzen will never admit it. He does have a good point though, I can play games on my PC a lot better simply because the specs are about 100 times better then any console.

If you consider consoles only :
- PS3 has better hardware (because it was out later), free online play and blue-ray.
- Xbox 360 is cheaper, has a better indie platform (live arcade)
- Wii has more games playable on the same room but is way more casual

If you had the PC platform, there is no reason to play games on console : spec are better, online play is free, games are cheaper, you have tons of indie plaforms, mouse+keyboard is way better than controller for almost all types of games and for those better played with controller (racing, fighting, sports and some platform games) you just have to plug a controller. The only downside is you're not comfortably installed in your sofa/bed.
The price is also not the same but you use a PC for others things too so, if you had 300€/$ (PS3 price) to a non-gaming rig, you can easily have a gaming rig (not the best of course but you'll play almost everything on it for a few years).

I am a retro gamer so in that respect, honestly my best console is my hacked Wii. I play all my old games from SMS, NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, NeoGeo and it is a good all-in-one retro system. Being that I am a retro gamer, graphics don't mean everything to me. Good graphics do make games more enjoyable in my opinion, but it always comes down to gameplay for me.

Nintendo makes amazing first party titles with the best gameplay in the industry (Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong Returns, Zelda series...) and the hardware is normally the most odd (Gamecube) different (N64 in time of CD's) or underpowered (Wii). Xbox and Playstation do have great first party titles too like Halo and God of War but they excel in third party support and that's where the lines get blurred. The games are the same. No longer do we have a Nintendo and Sega = Mario vs Sonic, we now have a "play the same games but this console has better features" match. Both consoles have pros and cons and I truly can't see how this late in their life that there is one clear winner. Speaking of late life, they both deserve respect in that department as well, going on 6-7 years into a life cycle for any console is amazing.

Consoles shouldn't be based on graphics or features solely, but the "exclusive" titles that you want to play for the games value itself. If I wanted to play Batman: Arkham City and I had a choice of systems... well why not play it on my PC for the better graphics since it's the same game across all platforms? Most likely in 15 years or so, we will be emulating this generation of consoles anyway due to increase computer performance and mass storage capabilities... Game on!

A hacked Wii, really? That would be interesting, especially if you're playing the really old school games on it. I have a Wii bit mostly use it for the Wii fit and such.
