Where are all the tall men in America?

I have noticed that America male television and movie stars seem to be getting smaller. The heroine generally is taller than the hero.
That great western,Hell on wheels,the various male leads in "Revenge","King","Leverage" to name but a few but the real cruncher is the casting of Tiny Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. I dont know what idiot thought that was a good idea but any person who has read the books would know differently. I would suggest someone like the late great Lee Marvin,Sean Bean,a younger Clint Eastwood they at least looked hardmen. I know there are many tall guys in USA Why aren't they being given a chance?
PS I'm only 5'10 so I'm not putting myself forward

Vince Vaughn is really tall for an actor. Most of the famous dudes is Hollywood are little guys though. Probably because all the tall dudes were playing basketball or football in highschool and not acting in the school plays.

i dont really have any issue with the shorter guys, being that most of them are all taller than me anyways. now if they were all getting to be shorter than me (whoas bros. hard to do.) then i might be concerned. maybe it's just people getting away from the idea that the biggest/toughest guy in the room is the coolest? which generally isnt true anyways :P

A lot of it is because they have to work with actresses who are generally shorter (because most really tall women who want to be in show business often end up modeling because you can make more money, easier, and at a younger age, doing that than acting).


But there are some tall men in Hollywood. Conan O'Brien, Tim Robbins, Liam Neeson, John Laroquette, Chevy Chase, Ray's brother from Everyone Love Raymond, Joe Manganiello, Alexander Skarsgård, Michael Clark Duncan (The prisoner guy from The Green Mile), etc. All of those guys are really tall.

I'd say the aveage height of an actor in Hollywood is much lower than the average American male. I wanna say the aerage adult American male is around 5'9".

I'll stick to my basketball theory.

That is a pretty unfair choice for height comparison. Joel is 6'4" (my height) and Eva Longoria is a tiny little 5'2".

I'm 6'2" and the wife is 5'3",.... what a diff 3 inches makes. We don't look anywhere near that funny.
