I am a developer. I work in the financial sector and focus on depository, statistical analysis, and transport protocols. I am unable to provide the logo or name of my current employer as they frown upon that highly.

I own a small lawn and landscape maintenance business...

A financial sector firm frowning on free advertising in this economy?! They deserve to fail.

It's more the site than anything else. They are very protective of their image. Of course they are a services company anyway so their advertising is more to other financial companies as we have no direct consumer contacts. Although I would bet you would know who they are many wouldn't.

Seeing as they're a services company dependent upon financial sector spending, have you had a downturn in business over the last year?

Nothing more than the general cycles that we always see. My particular division constantly sees turnover in clients as the bigger banks eat each other and buy portfolios off each other. We are less dependent upon spending than you would think. Economies of scale make it a lot more affordable for bank A to just pay us to do it since they could never do it for what we charge. If anything, the only real scare is companies who are customers of other providers eating some of our current customers.

As a funny note related to that, we had a customer who notified us they were moving their work out. Then another customer said they were sending us new work. Come to find out, it was the same work. The second one had bought the portfolio from the first and they were both our customers. Then a while later, the same portfolio did the same thing back to the first company.
