I have a question for anyone with know how regarding compression of videos for instance recorded on webcams! uncompressed videos can get as high up as a dozen mbs for just half a minutes!! with the DivX and Indeo Intel software I still get a couple of megs for 10 seconds! any ideas on how i can compress a video with the best quality retained?

and whats "number of passes"? and oh if anyone knows how to get rid of the DivX logo on videos compressed with those software id appreciate it!
Cheers!

Hmm, maybe you have to change the kilobit rate, and sound to mp3/ac3 on mono 96khz

How to change Avi to DivX:

What bitstream value did You use ? If You tune it down the file gets smaller but quality suffers.

I convert my AVI´s to SVCD format because I prefer the TV picture. Have You tried that ?

hmmm some good tips but well lets see...the quality of the recorded movie is already pretty sucky (webcam) so i cant really afford to lose even more on it! have no idea on how to change the sound compression but we aint talking about major diff... and for codec i think im gonna use Indeo Intel 5.0 (among the ones i have) cause i REALLY hate seeing that logo (even though it disappear after a while)... and converting to SVCD sounds funky enough but wats the upside of doing that?

I think that the TV forgives about the quality much more than computer screen. If You have TV-out in Your computer why not test if it works with You. And most of DVD players can play those disks..
