What's the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day? Why does the military get two holidays?

Memorial Day is older, so why did those dummies who fought WWI think it was necessary to create a new holiday for their peace treaty? And why no VE or VJ days for the end of the Second World War? I guess three military holidays would be too much?


This is why I don't pay attention to holidays. They don't make sense.

They all made sense in their time. Less so today. But V day is for the living, and M day is for the dead. VE is so meh...and VJ, well they are an ally now, right ?

Also, the military gets 3 holidays. We have an Armed Forces Day holiday as well. Next will be Seal Team Six holiday....ad nauseum.

Oh yea, we also have a NATO day, but only the defense contractors take that one off.
