Anyone watching this show? If so, what do you think?

Its written and created by Aaron Sorkin, who also did that same with The West Wing. While only 4 episodes in, I think its one of the finest shows ever to air on television. It could be that I'm a news geek myself, and studying broadcast journalism, but I think its more than that. It is such a well scripted and written show...smart, without talking down to the viewers.

I'd love to hear from other people watching it...love it, hate it, meh its ok?

I haven't seen the show, so I'll just say this:

Most things that I've seen that Sorkin does have a unique dialogue. They sort of remind me of Dawson's Creek, that way, in that the dialogue is always very tight and almost overly sophisticated. I think I heard someone say something to the effect of "it's what average people think smart people talk like" or something, which strikes me as sort of right. But either way, it's a show I've been meaning to catch since I first saw the "America isn't great" rant by Jeff Bridges. Also, Sam Waterston is amazing in everything ever (and by that I mean Law & Order, the TD Ameritrade commercials and the Robots skit on SNL), so I kind of want to tune in just for him alone, with the rest being just gravy on top.

Haven't even heard of it, but that's really not a surprise, I don't keep up on new TV shows so much...

I really like it. A lot of people are criticizing it being to one sided in the political world. To I which must reply quit your bitching. The writers need to take a position. Quite frankly I ignore what political position they take and just enjoy the color commentary they make about it. If you're too focused on the "issues" and the stance they take on them then you're missing the rest of the show. I see a lot of Studio 60 and Sports Night in it with the interactions between the characters which I like. I've always been an Aaron Sorkin fan though, so it's hard for me to dislike any of it.

Sure, the stance of the anchor and producers take while doing the news program may be one sided and to the left of center, but that isn't what the show is about. The show is about characters that take a stance and the circumstances around it. While the show does reference actual news events and stories, its important to remember that the show itself is not the news. I think its a credit to Sorkin and the writers that people actually feel like they're watching the news.

Watched this clip last week; was very impressed with the writing for the show. The stance taken in this clip is spot on, politics aside. I will definitely have to check this show out when I get the opportunity.

I am sure the West Wing was the same way and it was quite popular i've been told. I dont pay attention to politics if I can help it. I want it to go back to the 1900's where men fought for freedom and then governed the peoples. Not spoiled rich billionaires or people who allegedly were born in Hawaii. (The previous statement was not to have a bunch of political fan boys point out everything right/wrong with my statement or to tell me why one is better than the other.) You're welcome to if you want but I'm not gonna read it so save your effort.

Uh yeah so anyways, on topic and all...

I've seen some of the youtube clips floating around from the show and have seen several previews about it. I want to start watching it on demand this week, it looks great. I'm also a big fan of a lot of HBO series, they're always so well done.

6 Whites, 1 Middle-Eastern Guy, and 1 Asian? Chick.

Pretty solid.

Needs an Ollie Williams. And I can see it winning the TV.

Yeah, it looks good from the previews but I don't get HBO so I'll have to wait to see it.

Ok, so I watched the first season in toto.

Sorkin writes really well--almost too well because a lot of the dialogue is very quick and well thought out, which is problematic because there just aren't that many people in the world who are able to fire off that depth of thought so quickly--but that's a minor issue and it's generally common to Sorkin projects.

Anyway the premise is pretty good and the actors who have been cast are, for the most part, pretty awesome in their roles, particularly Daniels, Olivia Munn (if a little unbelievable--sort of like when Denise Richards played that Nuclear Physicist (named Christmas! ha!) in that Bond movie) and Sam Waterston. It lost me at a few points due to some unrealistic things happening, which I won't say what they are as I don't want to spoil it for anyone who plans on watching it, but there are certainly a few moments of over-the-top and which I just totally cannot see that happening in today's world. But, again, the premise is interesting and well done.

But overall I liked it and it's engaging and entertaining and funny and all that fun stuff.

Also, I hate the Maggie character.

And now I have to wait like 10 months for the next season.

Very well scripted and 'Sorkiny' but I don't like that its set in the recent past. And besides, it's no Studio 60...

I like the fact that they take you back to recent events, and you can watch a fictionalized version of how it unfolds

the best was when they cover the killing of bin laden

I thought that was the absolute worst episode, and actually had to fast forward though some of the overly-saccharine crap that filled the final 15 minutes or so of that episode

I don't hate the character just the girl who plays her doesn't fit it. I like the girl, she was in Goon. She just wasn't meant for this role.

I wish...there actually was a real news show that still rattled off the way Daniels does. It's amazing the clips they bring out, some of that stuff I never would have even known about. I haven't had a lot of time to fact check but I assume the quotes from Adams, Jefferson and Washington were all correct making some of the other stuff that McCain said just seem so STUPID.

I personally loved the Debate idea. I was extremely discouraged that it was shot down on the show, although, it would never fly with the actual RNC.

No, I hate the character. The nice but naive and meek blonde who is prone to getting walked all over by everyone and is too nice to take a stand in a relationship and goes back to the dude who doesn't give a crap even though there is another guy who does give a crap and that she likes and...just...everything about her character's personality is fucking terrible and cliched and terrible and Sorkin should feel bad about creating such a terrible character.

To be fair, it would never fly with the DNC either. Political candidates will not agree to a debate if their talking points are to be vigorously questioned.
