So I'm watching the Braves beat the Nationals yesterday... again and their starting pitcher makes a stupid comment about how their line up is better and it's not about wins in April but wins at the end of the season. I guess that's all you can do is make a dumbass statement when you are supposed to be in first place and the team that is kicking your asses is supposed to be in second place and the roles are reversed. Oh, the braves are kicking the shit out of them today too. Seven to nothing in the bottom of the third as I type this. Just had to get that off of my chest. GO BRAVES!

Well, it's still early in the season, and not to take anything away from the Braves' win, but he had to think of something positive to say.
Then again, as a fan, I may be biased.

Yes, I know it's early in the season, but seeing as how we are the Buffalo Bills of the baseball world, I tend to grasp at straws. LMFAO!

And the Nationals line up is as good if not better than ours.

I think the lineups are pretty even, but the Nationals pitching staff is, in my opinion, the best in the NL East

How is that possible with the worst bullpen is the East? The Braves starting rotation is pretty good and their bullpen is just stick-nasty. Heck, if I were the Braves I'd think about trading McCann right now. He's 28-29 with the body of a 50 year old. There's no way Gattis can be pulled from the line up.

The Braves starting rotation is significantly worse than the Nationals starting rotation, and starting rotations pitch something like 70% of all innings in a season.
The Braves closer is one of the best in baseball, but Soriano is pretty damn good himself. After that the Braves have Venters, but he's injured, so you have to shift O'Flaherty and Walden up a notch, which is okay, because they're still pretty good, but they both have pretty serious splits, with right-handers hitting both of them significantly better than left-handed hitters. Losing Venters is a big deal. Maybe he comes back 100%, but maybe not.
Clippard, Storen and Stammen are all very good in their own right, and without Venters the Braves bullpen doesn't really tower over any others. It's still good, but not elite.
Also, I'd say that the Marlins have the worst bullpen in the East, followed by the Mets, then the Phillies, then the Nationals and Braves. The Phillies might be in front of the , actually.
I basically agree with most of these rankings: http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/33502/showdown--vs-braves-vs-phillies

I don't really care about either team, but those are some pretty contradictory statements so close together. Strasburg Makes some "dumbass statement" by, in part, saying that the Nationals have a better lineup than the Braves, but then you say that the Nationals' lineup is as good if not better than the Braves' lineup?
Coming into the season, I was expecting Washington and Atlanta to be the two best teams in the NL. Washington has been mediocre all year, whereas Atlanta has just been mediocre since April 17. 12-1 start, so 11 games over .500. Today, they're 52-39, so they've gone 40-38 since that hot start.
It's only a 5.5 game difference between the two teams and it's just mid-July. There's a long ride ahead for both teams.
