Red Garters

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what is with all of the pics lately with the groups of girls showing red garters? Is this a sorority thing? why nopt another color like black, blue or even pink

It's red because the pics are from a prom before Polish exam called "Matura" (at the end of High School, people are 19 then), it is believed that wearing a red garter on the ball gives luck at the exam.

Yes...and the Prom is called "Studniówka" (Stew-Dnu-vka). It used to be held 100 (in polish "sto" days before your Final Exam (like ElFilipo said "Matura".....
