Ahhh, good point. We're not leaving FeFe behind!... Even if we have to pack her in our luggage to sneak her by.

Oh, yeah... I'm not sure what that was all about. Well I guess I'm leaning more towards Vegas or Texas at this point. I was just at Mardi Gras, so Nawlins I could take or leave (not that it isn't a blast).

About an hour south of Tampa... I just found out recently we're neighbors! I thought you lived in AL for some reason.

im sure that vegas would be fun, i honestly think that texas or st louis would be the best because theyre in the middle... no one will have to pay a huge amount to get there.

Well it's central if you look at it from left to right on a map

and i hate texas.

So, I'll scratch one down for the Viking on pro for going to Texas?
Dub-Style 19 years ago
and we are only talkin Dallas-Fort Worth... not Brownsville...

Looking at that map, St. Louie doesn't seem all that far away... Probably equal distance to New Orleans.

Central doesnt mean jack if it is harder or more expensive to get to by the most used method of transportation. If the biggest factor in getting people to come is ease of travel (including cost - which I think is going to be...) then you should ask how people plan to travel. If by car, then central US with a good interstate network location makes sense (if we assume even distribution of attendees - which is probably not true). If by plane, then perhaps we should consider hub cities for the major domestic carriers... Cities that make sense for this reason include: Pittsburgh, Dallas, Atlanta, St. Louis, Chicago... several of these are hubs for more than one airline (bonus).
If there is an even split, then we should consider cities that fit both categories (anyone else feel a good venn diagram coming on?) I can't speak for all of the cities, but usually if they are large, you can find what you are looking for there. When I lived in ATL, people used to say that if you couldnt find it in atlanta - you just werent looking in the right place.
Dont forget that if people come from all over to a central place for a common reason, they get discounts for calling it a convention. most places are going to cut you some meager deal if your entire group stays at their place. some places might be able to cut you a good enough deal to make it worth getting into a nicer place than most would choose otherwise.
I hate that I have a degree in engineering and I do logistics work.
if we had a list of the people that were seriously interested in coming and the way that they plan on coming (which may need to be presented on a location by location basis if people think they are likely to fly to x but drive to y), then we could start picking a location the hard way.
Or.... vegas sounds cool.

its a pretty cool city all in all (and i have relatives i can crash with)
As Eric already pointed out St. Louis is the central spot...and he also pointed out that Vegas was very cheap...just as "central" as you're claiming Texas is, and 1,000,000x more fun
