Well, any Mac guys/gals out there install Leopard yet? I picked up my copy, got the family pack, at 6:30pm EST and it's up and running on my kids 12" PowerBook G4 1.33GHz with 768MB RAM. This machine is near the low end of the system requirements and I'm really suprised how fast everything runs. I did an erase and install so I would start out with a nice fresh machine, avoid carrying over any gremlins. I'm gonna test it out for a few weeks before upgrading my PowerMac G5 and MacBook Pro just to be sure everything is ok but so far so good. Please share your experience along with the machine specs so we can see if there are any issues or if it's safe to dive right in.

I will update this list as I install and test the programs. These are the programs I have installed and appear to work well with Leopard. Also, if I find a problem later with one of the programs I have listed I will note it.

1. VMWare Fusion 1.1 rc1 beta - The VMware website claims this has worked well with the pre-released version of 10.5 and it appears they are right, so far no problems.
2. SlingPlayer V1.0.4.209 - No issues
3. Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac with all the latest updates - No issues
4. Quicken 2005 for Mac 14.0.5-R6 - The intuit website does not recommend using this program with Leopard but I haven't had any issue yet. The website said your data file may become corrupt so I am only using this as a test, my daily use version is still on my machine with Tiger.
5. Adium X 1.1.3 - No issues
6. Freeway 4 Express 4.4.0 (Build 5468) - The website claims this version is Leopard compatible and it seems to be, no issues.

Anything under 876Mhz won't be supported by Leopard, sadly. So only one of my 8 Mac's will run it Oh well, MACS STILL RULE! Since we're throwing out our goods on here, I have (almost all modded) a G3 B&W 350Mhz PPC with the matching CRT monitor, a G4 400Mhz PPC (gigabit ethernet) with matching 15" (1st version) LCD, a 876Mhz G4 (quicksilver) with matching 17" LCD, a dual 800Mhz G4 (mirror drive door) with dual matching 22" LCD's, the original 300Mhz G3 Blueberry iBook, original G3 iMac, (3) 2nd revision iMacs (strawberry, tangerine and grape), a 3rd revision Snow iMac, a 17" 2nd generation iMac (I refer to it as the lampmac), a 20" 3rd generation iMac, a 450Mhz G4 Cube with matching bubble 17" monitor, an iPod 30GB video (black), an iPod Nano (3rd generation, blue) and I just won a 20th Anniversary Mac on ebay...

2 down and 1 to go. I just finished doing an erase and install on my 15" MacBookPro C2D 2.16GHz 1GB RAM. Everything went smooth, I even installed Boot Camp and installed WinXP Pro SP2.

I manually removed my Windows XP partition before I did the erase and install, so I'm not sure how Leopard reacts if you try to keep it. My guess, and I have nothing to back this up, is that Leopard would only erase the Leopard partition and it would leave the Win XP partition only but I really don't know. Also, the Boot Camp you are currently using is beta code so that would need to be upgraded from the Leopard DVD but again I didn't install my this way so I really have no idea. In my case I recreated the Win XP partition after installing Leopard and reloaded Win XP along with the programs. This was an option for me because I only have one program that I use on Windows and very little data so I was able to back the data up to a thumb drive and the reloading only cost me about an hour and a half. If you have tons of data and a lot of programs it's not as fun. If you have any other questions let me know and I'll help anyway I can, good luck Latino and hopefully you have the same good experience that I've had so far. I have to say on both the machines I've upgraded Leopard runs much quicker then Tiger, and I had no complaints with Tiger so I'm really happy now.

that sounds like a plan....i might do the clean install and remove the XP partition..
i only have XP for Autocad and 1-2 games....so its not alot id have to back up
plus i backed up my whole drive before, cause i had a major fuck up done by me and i planned on re-installing tiger anyways....so since i have it backed up....why not? :P

i cant wait to install it though...Tiger was my first contact with a mac OS, so im intrigued to see what the installation process is like, how far the features/updates go compared to XP etc..

Your right, Apple came out today and admitted there were some issues. It appears that if you do an upgrade and you have Unsanity's APE installed you will have an issue. There is an article on MacNN that discusses the problem.

http://www.macnn.com/articles/07/10/29/leopard.install.freezes/

Apple recommends removing the Unsanity application enhancer and it's included haxies before installing. They also recommended an Archive and Install as opposed to an upgrade. If you do an Erase and Install it shouldn't be an issue because your harddrive is wipped clean by the installer before the OS is loaded.

Some people had problems without the APE. So I guess they don't know exactly whats going on.
