Like everyone else I don't know what country your in and that will effect your stay. Here in the US jail is a cake walk. Everyone is in there for something stupid just like you and so everyone for the most part just hangs out, plays cards, sleeps and eats. Prison on the other hand is a little bit more rough depending on the prison. Minimum security prisons usually aren't too bad but just for a driving violation you shouldn't have to worry about prison at all. Jail sucks cause you can't leave but it's absolutely nothing like TV and movies will lead you to believe and ignore any ass rape related comments in here cause that shit just doesn't happen in jail. In maximum security prisons yes there's some rape but in jail nobody's there long enough to resort to that kinda shit. I've been to jail more times then I'd like to admit to and I've been to quite a few different jails in different counties/states so I've got a good idea of what I'm talkin about. Good luck to you.

Thanks for all the advice. Just to say that I'v ealready gone guilty and just waiting for the sentence in just over 2 weeks. They don't really do deals over here but you always get a better sentence if you go guilty and I was caught fair enough so no point doing anything else. I've not been in major trouble but I did get probation before for criminal damage and then community service for fighting and I got banned and fined for drink driving and then this time I got caught for the smae while banned (not speeding). I know that sounds pretty bad and that's why I think they put it to Crown Court where they can give you more than 6 months which is the limit in the lower court. I know I screwed up but I can't do anything about it now.
Over here what happens as far as I know is that everybody goes to the same local prison when sentenced but then and they're pretty bad but depending on the crime and how you behave you can get sent to a lower security one. I think all the stuff about starting a fight is a bit mad because they'd probably just keep you in the higher security one for that. I'm 25 and as I say can look after myself OK and have been doing some training and boxing so I think I should be OK! Not a wimp anyway.
You only do half the time you get over here anyway and then do the rest on license or on electronic tag so I hope I won't be there too long. I do have a lawyer here and he's told me to expect 12 months but I hope I get less.
Hear what you say bout the food - don't expect it to be up to much and yeah having to do the business in public seems crap but from what people have said it's all doable. I woul dlove to get a job as I know I'll be cracking up if I'm stuck in a cell all day.

Wel, dare I say this, you might find it fun on some level if you look at it a certain way....you'll have no rent, clothing, food or health costs to worry about, and you can probably spend some time seriously dedicating yourself to reading and learning, comitting yourself to the world of your inner mind in a way you couldn't in the outside world. I am not saying we in the US do it the "right way or anything, in fact we're probably a bit too lenient on repeat offenders, but here you would actually serve maybe three months in jail for something like that on top of all the other stuff you did. And look at it this way....you're 25 and going to jail, so you need to straighten up before this kind of thing turns into a lifetstyle for you that will lead to very serious further trouble. If this staraightens you up then it'll probably save your life in doing so.
