How long will you usually play a game for before you get tired of it and move on? I've played Gran Turismo 4 and San Andreas for a long long time now and I haven't gotten sick of them..but it all depends on how much you play I suppose.
So, how long do you usually play a game before you're bored of it, and does the type of game make a difference?
Also, what do you think is the longest you've played a game...at one sitting, and over time?
I usually get tired of a game because it sucks. The ones I like I still play. i.e. the ratchet and clank series.
Goldeneye. 7+ years and still awesome.
I'd say 7 inches.
Oh, wait, never mind.
the silent game is fuckin boring. but shuts little kids up 4 5 minutes, always good. i hate small children lol.

For me it doesn't matter. One of, if not my favorite genres is RPG which are notoriouly long. I've put 40+ hours into FFVII about 10 times, FFVIII 3 times, FIX 1 time, FFX 2 times, FFX-2 1 time, FFXII i'm currently about 40 hours in. I'm about 45 hours into oblivion and i've barely scratched it. If it's a good game, i will play it for a long long time.
been playing world of warcraft for almost 2 years now
I play until I get bored or find something else.
...I still havent finished a 360 game yet.
Which sucks because those games are expensive as hell, and I've got like ...20 of them.
Halo 3 and Bioshock were going good for a bit. Well not so much Halo 3, I'm still on the second level I think.
Maybe first.
Bioshock died in my mind after I killed the same damn Big Daddy 24 times because I kept loading/deleting the wrong save, or forgot to save after killing him.
Any strategy game or RPG will get me going for a couple of hours. The longest I've played a game would have to be nearly 10-12 hours or something, think it was WoW when I was playing that sucker-game. The Baldurs Gate-series or the Fallout-series are re-playable to this day.

The real question is (tongue in cheek) Just how short?!?!
I too am a GTA, San An, in particular, fanatic. Sadly all my PS2s I've owned just died in the past two weeks, I can no longer play any PS2 games, I'm too broke to buy a new one having been laid off from work. I have a VERY slow PC version of it I plan to try again. With my 2.9Ghz CPU and ATI with 128MB, I can't figure out why I can't get anywhere near PS2 speed!! haha
I play my games until I can't pass a mission/level. Then I usually resort to finding cheats, and feel real dirty about it when I beat the game, and never play them again.
I have to say Oblivion is probably the only game that still keeps me interested.
i play most games until i complete them. have lost many nights of sleep and i choose them very carefully anymore.getting to old to stay up that long. and knowing the game is paused .drives me insane
shortest amount of time spent on a game for me, is 10 minutes. Enchanted Arms for PS3. An RPG that has a piss poor battle engine and a flaming gay main character.
Longest is SOCOM startd playing in second week of te first game, and bought the PS3 for the new one coming out. most FF rpg's i've played for over 40 hours. had oblivion when i had a 360, and got up to 160 hrs. mortal kombat series... unable to even calculate how many hours. and over 100 hrs on need for speed most wanted, and the was the longest in 1 sitting. 3 days at 15 hours a day in a row.
I will normally play a game I enjoy until I complete it or if I don't enjoy it then I will part exchange it. I have a 360 and I have to say their are not many games I have played all the way through apart from King Kong, Crackdown, Ghost Recon 2, The Darkness, Bioshock. I think the longest running game I have played is Counterstrike, which for me has never been bettered for online play!
For me it depends on the game. I've been playing Fallout 1&2 since '98, while most of the newer games I stop playing after a couple of months.
