I'm far from a grammar snob but it bugs me when people say "same difference". It's only the same difference if two or more things are equally different to a third... right? Otherwise there is either a difference or not.

Anyhow, I'm functionally illiterate and my spelling is so poor that this post of mine looks like the killing floor with all its squiggly red lines.

I really fucking hate lol and it's improper use. No, you are not laughing out loud, you just don't know what to put so you just stick lol.

And then there's people who use it on FB like " hi, I'm Lucy lol I like skiing horses and flowers lol and at I like to go out with friends lol"

YOU'RE NOT FUCKING LAUGHING OUT LOUD!!!!!! IT ISN'T FUNNY EITHER!!!!!

And don't get me started on Rofl, I have NEVER seen anybody literally roll on the floor laughing!

Pmsl I have, but again it's overused.

Lmao isn't that bad,

I'd like to see lol replaced with loi - laughing on the inside, or twf - that was funny.

I also hate when their, they're and there are used incorrectly.

Anyway, rant over!

Seriously though, where to start is the question on this subject, I have so many peeves regarding grammar.

1. Incorrect use of "I" and "me". For the record, this is really easy. The word "I" is used when the You in questions is the subject of a sentence. "I" does things. "I like that," you say. You don't say, "Me like that," unless you are Tarzan. "Me" makes his appearance when things are done to You. "He really screwed me on that deal," is both a common occurrence and correct usage.

2. Incorrect use of the word "myself". "Only I can get in touch with myself, you can get in touch with me". "I" is the subjective first person pronoun, "me" is the objective and "myself" is the reflexive. How hard is that anyway? So many, many corporate communications close these days with the incorrect usage, "If you should have any questions, please contact Sam or myself." Get it right people. You and I together "are" doing something whereas if we each do it alone, You are doing something and I am doing something.

3. People mixing up "your" and you're". your is a possessive adjective, indicating ownership of something, "That is your sock". you're is a contraction (combination) of you and are, "Do you know what you're doing?". The two are not interchangeable.

4. "Were", "We're" and "Where", Were is a past form of the verb to be. We're is a contraction of we are. Where refers to a location.

Aaaarghhh!!!!!

I get peeved that everything now has an apostrophe-S, whether the thing is possessive or not.

"I got lot's of bad grammar."

"Their's ton's of apostrophe's that are being misused these day's."

And the whole their / there / they're scandal...people are just butchering simple grammatical rules and nobody cares.

Like Neonzero said, using "me" instead of "I", but in a sentence like: "Me and Billy went down to the ranch." That's pretty much like saying "Me went down to the ranch," which is just stupid. I've been hearing this one a lot lately, STOP SAYING IT!

The question part of that sentence should be in quotes. It has the wrong punctuation for it as well.

Just sayin'.

See how I used an apostrophe there? It's not a possessive nor is it a contraction, but it still gets an apostrophe.

No. Two items can be equally different. A third item is not mandatory to make "same difference" an accurate depiction.
