Like you know what true BBQ is, Canadian. lol
Give me chocolate or give me SPAM....preferably chocolate because I'm crampy and bitchy and generally just annoyed.

I agree...good places are few and far between here...but I know it when I see it. I would love to live somewhere that truly bbq'd and didn't just grill.

Is that like Canadian Bacon?
Or do you mean cooking over an open fire like I do?
Or am I just to dense for the pun?
(sauces are not involved)

No, my idea of real BBQ is slow cooked smoked meats like brisket, pork, ribs...stuff like that. Takes all day to cook.
What canadians call BBQ is really just grilling over an open flame of some sort, be it wood or gas. Fine for things like burgers and steaks and what not.
I like both, but I prefer the slow cooked "southern" bbq. Cuz then you get things like corn bread, mac and cheese, slow cooked beans....yum.
I'm hungry.

Was planning a cookout at the park with the g/f and our dogs tomorrow. We usually grill steaks, but now I want ribs!!

If food is what kills me, I can think of a lot more unpleasurable ways to die...

We have the same nomenclature issue out here. Everyone calls it barbeque, when it is in fact simply ( and delciously) grilled food. I love them both, but they are miles apart in content, flavor and technique.

I don't like that all-day cooked stuff.
I'm not into mushy food. Except potatos. I like them and they're kind of mushy when cooked.
But other than that, give me grilled food any day.
Plus, I don't really like dark meat, and a majority of that stuff (ribs, pork, beef, etc) is red meat, so I often end up avoiding that.
