2nd DistraughtsSon, to adress some of your coments (not attacking you just explaining my side) first has i said in my first post on this i do support gay rights, just not gay marriage. They should not be abused by people, and they do have the same rights as the rest of us. But as i said before there is no right to marry, marriage is contract between a man and a women to be together for life, but that does not mean its your right to get married, it just means your alowed to, just as the marrage laws superseeded the mormons freedom of religion and would not alow them to practice poligamy. there for i dont think its a rights issue, 2nd when compared to slavery this is compleatly different, even Jessi Jackson (who tends to agree with everything the left says) does not support gay marrage and is bothered by the fack that people compare something like this to the suffering the blacks had to endure. Also i would just like to clarify that i do not hate gays and people that do are ingnorant like you said, i personaly have a couple gay and bisexual friends, and also my dad is gay, so this was an issue that i was undecided on for a long time and did not make up my mind on this issue untill i educated my self more and looked at the bigger picture that would arise from this, trust me this was not an easy stand for me to take. And with the bible issue ive tryed to leave religion compleatly out of my arguments its a touchy subject also its not a good agument because we do have religious freedom in this contry(supposidly). But in my opinion jesus would be against gay marrage because the bible does condem gay sexual activity, but i think he would also condem those who try to hurt gays to because as you said the bible tells us to love all others, and as far as im concerned its gods job to judge us not our job to judge each other. And yes the bible forbids sex befor marrage and im guilty of that but i also have no problem with gays doing what ever they want behind closed doors as well.

Also i wanted to say who great i think this forum is because this a big issue and its cool that theres a place like this that we can discuse it without attacking each other, this is the type of discusion that the whole country needs instead of both sides fighting, and attacking each other with no real information ever comming out

Shadow, good points made. I'm a DJ and over the summer I had the joyest opportunity to DJ in a gay night club, which was a real wake up call for me. I met allot of people, and I do not hate gays what so ever, I feel that if they chose to love one another thats fine and there perogative, as well as what they do behind close doors is their perogative. How ever like you said marriage is a union between a man and A woman, and the main point of it is to start a family. Last time I checked two men together can't quite do that. My main problem with it is I don't think it's right for them to be able to get married and then adopt or try to concieve through another (woman) for children and start bringing them up to think that you suppose to have two fatherly figures. Not that they would intentionally do that but I think it would happen in most of the cases, and I'm from Mass, where this is all brewing up big time.

Its good to hear that im not the only person that feels this way on here, also one question was it in your state that a lesbian judge or senator was also trying to fight against gay marrage? I cant remember where she was from.

my main problem with not allowing gays to marry are the benefits the they can't receive due to not being able to marry. If one member of a gay couple gets in a car accident and is in intensive care at the hospital, family members admission only, then the other member of the couple cannot visit them there. Then, if they die there, then whatever house or property they had ownership of will go to parents, siblings, etc. before their partner (Assuming they haven't written a will or anything). These aren't the only things i have problems with, but just some things to think about.

Sorry for the delay responing: To Dylan 191, I was speaking in terms of modern law, not American law. Yes American law was based on the English system. That is what was the history classes from 30+ years ago and the many History classes I sat through, if I was am wrong , well my mistake. I speak in terms of changing the foundations of law. Would it not be better to use the law to change the laws? Using these changes to laws we could add domestic partner provisions to protect the very things that Guy community wishes. Only my thoughts and under standing but if you wish to build on an exsiting idea you don't screw with the foundation

1. Let the guys do their pitching and catching - who cares, let them get married
2. Let the women do their licking and strap-on action - who cares, let them get married
3. However, having/adopting children raises so many issues. So many in fact, I don't even want to get into this. There are many pros and cons to each, but overall I think the it can have a serious damaging permanant effect on the psyche of the kid(s).

I have never said it was good for the kids to have 2 dads or 2 moms. Just said that i think the parents would raise it in a good way.
