I myself prefer the aesthetics of a living shoreline. To many people simply look at managing shoreline with dollars and cents, without looking at the long term effects that either natural or unnatural products have in a given situation.

Also, there is not a huge amount of beauty, in my opinion, in building a 20 foot high concrete wall simply to stop the erosion of a bank on a lake

My job gives me a butt ton of time to think and contemplate life, some days a bit to much time

But I enjoy what I do, been doing the whole lawn and landscape thing for a total of 31 years, on my own for the last 26...

OK, I do the vintage audio/record collecting/antique radio stuff. Me finally sorting through the LP collection. You don't see the 78rpm stack in the corner of the next room.

I would love to build my collection up like that, well done sir!

Well, I don't have any pictures of me at work, but I am a teacher of science and engineering at the university.

Your office has way too much stuff in it.

It would overwhelm me.

Then again, I'm weak...and Ivan Drago would crush me.

The Living Shoreline concept is long overdue and just becoming a bit more mainstream here in Maryland thanks to recent legislation promoting their use over hard, armored or structural (old school) options. BUT, it is not a silver bullet and it works, in conjunction with some smartly engineered stone groins/breakwaters where there is not too much wave energy (natural or man made due to water activities). Down side is that it costs more for the landowner/govt for any cost share and can be perceived as an intrusion to personal land use. Its more habitat friendly when constructed properly; in-Town just had one installed and I quietly critiqued too much stone was used in the sill and vent; two nights ago @ a presentation I learn that NOAA etc grant sources required some stone removal upon re inspection...so I was right on the $$.

Like anything, it has its + and - ; I've been involved in a number of these in my own capacity and, so far, they have been beneficial. Like storm water management, this stuff is an evolution. Since I'm a life time angler, I also see the benefits these play in recreation as well as a resource management tool.

The words stone and groin should never be used in the same sentence.

So, I have a couple ?'s...

How do you like that chair? Sat in one a couple of times and it seems pleasant. I'm usually disappointed after buying a new chair and putting in serious butt time.

Do they drop you into that chair via crane, do you crawl through the window, crawl under the desk, or is there an access point I'm not seeing? Looks like a very tricky access to me.

It is kinda nice to see someone who's desk is almost as messy as mine. Your's is a bit more organized.
