Fucked DVD-RW Dual Layer

Got a friend who has a 16 speed DVD-RW Dual Layer drive. (Sony) thing worked like a charm till one day it stopped writing ordinary CD's. Still does DVD's fine. Its not a driver cuz sony says it doesnt have a driver for XP. It worked fine then all of a sudden stopped working. It still reads all media. just doesnt burn CD-r / rw.

Any thoughts.....

Had one do the same thing. Basically it is a hardware problem with the CD read/write capabilities. Buy a new one.
