firefox and CPU problems

why when im running Firefox is my CPU running at over 100%? i have nothing else open and no adwear/virus etc... and as soon as close firefox down via 'end task' the CPU drops back down to normal??

is this a problem with firefox or my CPU?

any help guys would be good.

i know firefox still has a memory problem but should this be taking up all my CPU's resorces? and its a 3.2Ghz processor so its not slow.

I've got the same thing. I'm not sure what the exact problem is; I just attributed it to the memory leaks.

yeah that what im guessing, but i get paranoid about my pc, at some stages firefox is running over 100,000k of memory

yep same here i think the highest firefox used of my memory is about 180k

Do you have a lot of extensions installed? There are some extensions that aren't very tight with memory!

100,000? That's nothing.

I've had it in upwards of 390,000.

390MB is a lot of memory when you figure I have 512MB total.


The problem is with the way Firefox processes images. One hour on WBW(especially after being in the babe galleries) is equililient to four or five hours on most other websites.

I've found that the best thing to do(if you have 1.5.0.) is get the extension session saver, and once the memory gets too high, use the restart fire foxthing. (File-->restart firefox)

ok it has now gotten to the stage where i have had to stop using firefox now, i have tried uninstalling and re installing but still nothing, it keeps taking up all of my resources and ends up now crashing the comp!?

can any one help please?!
