Wondering if anybody can recommend a good photo/video editor?

I hate to be that asshole who recommends the obvious, but Photoshop if you're on Windows/Mac GIMP if you're on Linux/BSD.

Obviously does photos, and you can do a little bit with videos, but not a ton. Premier Pro and After Affects are supposed to be pretty good for video, though I have never personally used them.

Also, keep in mind that that is just a very general recommendation, as I don't know what you're wanting to do. I mean, if someone were to say that they wanted a recommendation on a good car. I could say a Murciélago is a good choice, but realistically, there are much better choices based upon their specific needs.

And here I was thinking I'd be the asshole for offering up MS Paint!

Well, he said a "good" editor. MS Paint is a sad excuse at an image viewer gone wrong.

Hay. Have you messed with Paint in Windows 7 yet? If not I suggest you do. It's much ... more ribbony ... and cool looking ... and ... well that's enough for me.

Back on track. GIMP is useful on Windows also and the price (free) is pretty darn good. May I also suggest the following free programs. All are useful, but not as full featured as a paid product.

Photoscape http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php

Virutaldub http://www.virtualdub.org/
Avidemux http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/
Pinnacle Video Spin http://videospin.com/redesign/default.asp

As far as paid, I would say the CS4 or CS5 products from Adobe would be the best.

Typically, I only use Paint to resize photos for work. For any other editing/manipulation, I tend to lean towards GIMP, and the main factor there is the "free" part.

Actually, that's true. It's a complete overhaul in 7. Not that you can do a ton with it, but for a built in editor, it's not so bad.

Sorry to post here but I didn't want to make my own topic, lol. And it's sort of on the same topic... ish?

Does anyone know of a free video editing programe that will let me watermark videos? I usually use windows movie maker, but need the watermark at the bottom, and on there it ends up in the middle, and a site has rejected my videos coz it's in the wrong place, lol. I don't even need it to be a picture watermark like some girls have, just text. :P

Thankies if anyone can help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Allow me to recommend Picasa 3.0 by Google. It's a basic photo editor, very user friendly and an AWESOME photo organizer! It's definitely worth a try. After all it is free,....I think it's great (for the money).
