can one still buy mp3s online NOT using itunes?

For reasons i'll skip, i am no longer going to be using itunes. But that's the onlyp place i've ever bought music from online. So, is there any legit way to buy mp3s or music in any non-proprietary format online aside from itunes *and*..........and........without having to be online to listen to them?

I buy alot of my music through amazon . com
Once you create an account and buy music from them the also store it online so you can get to it anywhere.
For just listening I use Pandora alot.

Also Google play you can purchase music.

Try Rhapsody, as well.

Try mp3va.......been using it for awhile........very reasonable,........also emusic is pretty good but getting more expensive........Good Luck!!!....
