When I'm with my regular FB I don't wear a condom. We've both been tested. She is on yasmin or however it's spelled, taken orally.

With other random girls I always use a condom.(Yes, she knows about the other girls, I'm not that horrible of a person)

How does your priest get that off of his robe?

As for me, the pill is the best, because it requires me to do almost no planning whatsoever.

My current partner has had a total hysterectomy. So, birth control is not a problem. Just fire away!! Also, this means no periods either.

With my last gf, we used condoms the first handful of times, then switched to this film that you fold up and stick up in her, kinda looks like one of those breath freshening strips, but bigger and colorless, and don't taste minty, (actually have a numbing effect). But she didn't like those, I think because with every day use, they left like a residue, a mix of melted film and jizz. (Sorry if I'm being too graphic.) Then I just pulled out. Had to get a testing kit once, that was scary, but continued on with that for a few years. No action since then.

First line of defense: False name and phone number
Second line of defense: Condoms
Third line of defense: Anal sex
Forth line of defense: The Men's Pill.

Anyways they have already progressed with the male version of the pill. So who knows, it could save us a lot of trouble.

Its a good idea at the time - but like you said.. once the blood finds its way back up to my brain the images of how it was a bad idea come into play.

actually, believe it or not, the chances of experiencing depression nearly /double/ for women taking the pill.

a research team from monash university (australia, i think) conducted a study of women over 18, not pregnant, with no history of depression, and anti-depressant-free for 12 months. conclusions? the average woman on the pill rated her overall sense of depression at around 18, whereas the average control-group woman (not on the pill) rated her depression around 10. (however, of the seventy percent who stopped taking contraceptives because of the side effects, only two-thirds experienced any recovery -- which probably indicates a pre-existing condition.)

for anyone that's interested, this all makes a lot of sense (even though a lot of doctors deny it, considering the relative deficiency of clinical evidence): progestin, the synthetic form of the hormone progesterone, is combined with estrogen in most pills and has been shown to lower serotonin levels in the brain by increasing the amount of a serotonin-reducing enzyme. (serotonin is a neurotransmitter that contributes to depression; the clinically depressed have low levels of brain serotonin, and are often treated with drugs that keep serotonin around longer.)

and women opting for the injection are actually subjecting themselves to an even /greater/ risk, as contraceptive injections are entirely progestin. so far, the research has only shown that women already diagnosed with depression experience a worsening of their condition while using progestin; it doesn't seem to me like it's particularly unreasonable to think the decrease in serotonin in a healthy brain may even /cause/ depression itself (and i know i'm not the only one with this theory).

at end of the day, though, i think the questions are whether or not having you partner wear a jimmy-hat is such an inconvenience you're willing to sacrifice your mental health, and whether or not having a child would depress you more or make your life more difficult than just staying on the pill. me? i think there are way too many children born before their parents can reliably support them, and that's good for no one. but i'm also not depressed, and i don't have to take the pill, so it isn't really fair for me to say.

There are a lot of different shots as Latino mentioned. My ex-wife had one of them after our first child 11 years ago and it was nasty. It stopped her periods completely which you would think would be a good thing, but it really only stopped them from coming out. She was collecting them up inside and after about 2 1/2 months, she went into a kind of labor and gave birth to what was basically a blob made of all of the gunk from 2 periods. Good thing is that I believe that particular shot is not on the market anymore.

wow... no method of birth control works this way; the body doesn't keep track of how many periods it has missed. indeed, women who postpone their periods for months at a time occasionally experience heavier bleeding, but if your ex-wife's menses are so heavy that you describe it as "giving birth," she may have miscarriaged. anything besides a fetus festering for that long probably would have caused a toxicemia; she would have been extremely ill and hospitalized.

@ gluglug - well my wife was on it for about 20 months and never experienced side effects such as depression, we were just warned it might happen. My wifes friends are also using the injection, and out of the 7 of them, none have experienced depression.

i dont think that all are the same, we just happen to used one that had little if no effect

ive been with well over 100 girls....probably about 150 estimated. only used a condom a few times... less than 5 times in my life. thankfully im clean of diseases. most of the chicks were one nighters.. a few werent. maybe 10 i actually was in a relationship. i always pulled out and never bothered to ask if they were on b/c or whatnot. to my knowledge, none of them ended up pregnant, however, i dont know b/c out of the estimated 150 girls, i actually talked to 20 of them again after the one night of fucking. i have been with my current g/f for 2 yrs now and she was on the pill so i popped one up in her a few times. she is now 3 months preggo.

definitely; my fiance is on the pill and, insofar as i know, isn't experiencing any of these side effects. there are more than 35 brands on the market at the moment, and they differ predominantly by the concentrations of progestin and estrogen -- some have less progestin, so have been linked to less depression, and vice versa.

i'd say zero of eight women experiencing no side effects would be anomolous, considering data has shown more than seventy percent of women on the pill experience some depression/anxiety (that is, they've noticed even a /slight/ change), and about fifty percent of them go on to have those symptoms treated. one thing i'm inclined to say, as a physician, is that people are rarely honest about their mental health, especially among friends and family. no one wants to be the odd one out...
