Best music download sites.

What do you guys think are the best legal sites to download music? I want to download and burn to CD's. I don't mind paying for the downloads.

www.napster.com / www.itunes.com / msn music ?

You go to iTunes if you want to OWN the music.

If you want to RENT music, and constantly pay to play something you go to Napster or Urge.

I like iTunes, but I like my music to be at 160Kps...iTunes only has the option of 128. Not sure what other sites have, but I usually just buy used cd's and upload them.

i dont do... legal....

There's also those Russian sites where a whole album costs like $1.25. Not entirely sure if there's legal issues with using them or not.

Just need to add my 2 cents here. When you guys go to work, don't you get paid once for the job that you did that day? I do. How come these "artists" continue to get paid for the same job even after they are dead? I thought maybe this would be a good place to bring up something that pisses me off when they are SO worried that someone might get a free download of the ONE GOOD song on a $15 dollar CD. Maybe I'm wrong. What do you think?

Actually most artists don't make much. Most of the profits go into the executive's pockets. Static-X is a pristine example of how they screw most artists. They don't make a cent off their sales. So they are forced to tour constantly to make money. In fact, quite a few artists have ended up in debt with their labels.

HEY!!! someone who has a even a vague idea of how the business side of music works.

seriously if anyone wants an eye opening look at how the "profits" work in the music industry i suggest picking up "confessions of a record producer" by Moses Avalon. Not to say i dont download albums but if i like the album i'll go out and buy it...if i dont i delete it. Yes U2,Rolling Stones, Madonna and Metallica are filthy stinking rich but for every one of those bands there's probably about 3000 other bands barely making it by

More than likely, posting those links would break copyright laws. That's the only reason that you can't post them here.
