Third world countries we still support financially. make me wonder who is the third world country now….
I no longer wonder as Australia faces the abyss of a Fabian driven ideology? ...................Just get a glimpse of this lot.
Well may the USA ponder its past and beckoning future of a superseded super power.

I won't be eating any shit (outside of the general allowances for food production.)

Just because China has some fancy railways doesn't mean that they're the be-all-end-all of the future.
They can't support their growth for long enough to actually become the world leader.

This is my opinion here, but the fact that they do all these fancy high-speed bullshit things is in an effort to convince the world that they are the next big thing. It's all a show. Like military parades to demonstrate the size and scope of an Army *cough*N.Korea* *cough*Soviets*cough*

Yes, they are growing. Yes, they consume more steel and concrete than the rest of the world. But what does that actually mean?

They can't advance it indefinitely, or convert it into a sustainable level.

Could they? Maybe. It's been a very long time, so I might be out of touch. But just because someone operates a super fast train (Japan and France still have the records for fastest trains) doesn't mean that they are the world leader in living.

What should our course of action be? Create a faster train? It means absolutely nothing.

What about grain production? The European Union produces more grain than the rest of the world. Why are trains more indicative of global power than wheat?

The European Union has a higher GDP than the US, which is still nearly 2.5x that of China.

China, generally, is just a big scary misunderstood sensationalist topic for tbe news to report and the people to be concerned about because they don't eat apple pie or look like WASPs.

I see it just the opposite.

China is at the very early stages in their societal development as we were in the beginning of our industrial revolution. The vast majority of chinamen still live in the villages. Their potential for growth, particularly if they lift the birth restrictions, is virtually unlimited.

I think we should be very afraid of what china is becoming. As of right now, they are only getting started. What these kind of infrastructural improvements represent are the same kind of things that Hoover Dam and the Interstate system meant to America during the Great Depression. China is poised to become the next super power, and as far as I'm concerned, we have Bill Clinton to thank for it.

What's important to note right now, is that our governmental agencies cannot afford to do something like this right now. Apathy, born of contentment, is a societies greatest enemy.

I love that you said "chinamen."
Also, http://www.economist.com/topics/chinese-economy
Not very many positive articles there.

I'm not saying China should be ignored but it's not the waking dragon that the news and whatnot make it out to be.

Yes, virtually. Because in reality, there's something called natural resources and they are already drained by the current system. So I don't think China will afford to grow as much as it could.

A few years ago, a study showed that if the whole world lived with the same living standard as EU or USA, we would need 2.5 earth planet (resources AND space to collect food). So, there's an actual material limit to growth (and it also concern our countries).

Fear as always been a great way to make people do what you want (and your country is one of the best in this way of governing ^^ Not saying France isn't because our last shitty president also went that way).

Yes China is becoming a super-power but I don't think you have to fear it, as a citizen. What we should really be concerned about is what our countries are becoming.

Bangles, chinamen, are Chinese that can't afford a cow, therefore, no cheese.

Omuh, agreed, and I love your last sentence...... don't take my hastily written post as anything meant to scare the bejeebers out of people, it's not, but even though their economy is small compared to the US, their bankrolls are bursting, they are efficient, they are on the move. Rome was pretty comfy, when they fell.

Yeah, it was all amazing, save for the Visigoths, Vandals, the dozen or so other Barbarian bands that decided Rome sounded like a good place to be, and the couple hundred years of civil and military strife and decline.

China can't/doesn't even feed its population as it is now, how are they going to support an even less agriculturally focused citizenry well enough to establish themselves?

They're not doing some "gradual" transition in development like the rest of the developed world has done. They're essentially trying to do this all in a generation. They're gonna end up with a shit-ton of superficially shiny new shit and no understanding or ability to maintain or advance it. Yes, the US transitioned fairly quickly during our Revolution, but there wasn't a world out there or a general understanding of basic human rights. We did what we did by breaking every non-existent future rule about human decency and rights that the world follows now (also, by using a ton of Chinese, so I'll give them that. At least they've got some experience in developing a nation lol.) The world generally ignores China's shady dealings, but if they try to maintain their shiny toys at the cost of killing 3/4ths of their population, the world won't keep a blind eye, and Facebook and Twitter will be full of "Make China Famous 2016" posts by all the super-philanthropic-totally-socially-aware tweens of the world.

You don't think you see that happening in the US today? I see two factions of growing polarity. Military/patriot/old school vs new age/socialistic/globalists/nanny-stateers. The latter is on the verge of becoming a majority. That concerns me greatly.

As for the rest of your post, I hope you're right.
