I'm interested in becoming a professional musician. Note my avatar is not me, it's the character "Lance" from the movie "Sexdrive". I just wanted to get that out of the way. I only chose it because we have a similar style of dressing. Mine is slightly more toned down than his though.
The hardest part about my first foray into music, is that I wish to become a male white rapper. I write all my own songs and music, which range from madd rhymes, to funky fresh beats. I'm a non smoker, but I may change this to add to my street credibility. My friend Jackington suggested he shoot me in the hip with his grandfathers vintage world war rifle. We would do this at a great distance, with my leg sticking out from behind a wall of sorts to avoid any kind of aiming mishap. He has lead me to believe that this would not only add to my street "cred" but also make for scar that women would undoubtedly find attractive. Not that I have any trouble attracting young women, I wear only the finest brand name clothing, and I always match my outfits with a matching, or slightly off hue ascot tie. It's a look I find refreshing and hip. It may be a little unconventional, but it's catching on, I assure you. Getting back to scars though, do women find any battle scars you have to be attractive, this may sway my opinion on Jackington's idea greatly.
I digress, I am a shorter lad, I stand only five feet, seven inches tall, but that is roughly the same height as this Eminem character who was all the rage a little while back. So, I don't think it will be a problem. I know looks and muscle build are not what make a great rap artist, but with the world the way it is I believe a man must be at least mildly attractive to make it in "the biz". It's the only reason I brought it up. My whole life I've been trained to play mostly classical music, but I find myself bored with it, and unfortunately I don't have much of a young, hip fan base with it. I play the Violin, Oboe and Piano. I want to be a more attractive type of musician than I currently am, as you see the girls rarely ask for an "Oboe solo" and when I ask they mistake my genuine question for something vulgar.
There was actually one instance in which I was violently struck by my own Oboe, by a young miss who mistook my comment "Would you like me to give you an Oboe solo" again for something terribly more vulgar than I had intended. I explained to the young miss that it was only a misunderstanding, and that I just wanted to preform my brand of classical music for her, at which point she made a comment about my sexuality, and threw my very expensive, and now sadly broken Oboe in the trash receptacle.
These are the types of situations I would like to avoid in my fledgling rap artist career. I was hoping some of the men on this forum would be able to help me in my quest. what would be the best potential way to become a professional rapper?
Is there a specific city or state I should move to?
Do any of you know of any other professional rap artists, whom I could contact for an interview?
Are any of you rap stars yourselves, and could you maybe give me some advice?
Thank you for your time, I await your responses.
