I've dealt with a bunch of Debian based versions. Haven't really done a ton with them though. I know my way around them, and know some simple terminal commands, but thats it.

I've also used android. I have used the android development kit a couple times, and have rooted and done some root shit on my Hero as well.

Been dabbling with Ubuntu's for years but I've found it's actually gone down hill in the last few releases, too many chiefs not enough indians at Ubuntu Central these days it seems. When I feel like playing I fire up Backtrack 4 and do some Pentesting on my home network. It's very limited testing for me these days now that I live in the boonies. When I lived in the city a few years back I did a lot more "testing".

Well I've been a Linux regular user for the last few years and now upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10, which I'm on right now. I like it for all the different things it comes with that you can download and install for everything from testing/development-to-regular customer use. Only thing I really don't like about it is that I can't switch from Ubuntu to the other OS on my laptop (Windows 7 Ultimate) while currently on Ubuntu without fully restarting my pc to select the other OS, or maybe you can and I just haven't figured it out yet?? The other thing I'm not too fond of as well is that some of the Program's Setup files you may already have for say W7 or Mac or whatever (like the now extinct Limewire) have to be re-download in Linux format or they just plainly cannot be downloaded at all and you have to find a similar program that works with Linux (apparently a downloadable or built-in program for Linux called Wine is something you can use to open Windows-based programs but I have yet to test it yet). But yes, I would definitely agree with Blitzoid that Linux is on the decline because I think the mass population really know anything about and more-so trust it because Windows and Mac pretty much have people thinking those are the only 2 OS's out there and that's what people know.

I've been using Ubuntu since like 2004 and I have no real complaints until now... I have a 5 year old Toshiba A105-S4094 laptop that had XP (which I loved to customize and hack to the "T" then recently "upgraded" to Windows 7 Ultimate by ways I cannot say (and yes, it's still activated for over 3 months). When I then installed Ubuntu it screwed me over because I had no idea how to get back to the original Ubuntu OR Windows GRUB boot menu because the installation of Ubuntu completely deleted the Windows GRUB boot menu and would constantly boot ONLY to the Ubuntu OS because it put Ubuntu in the 1st boot spot to load and it pissed me off. It wasn't until I found out that "... it has been reported that W7 tends to mess with the Windows GRUB boot menu after a Windows update/upgrade. To avoid any issue, you need to install GRUB to the boot partition of the Ubuntu Installation then use EasyBCD to edit the Windows GRUB boot menu and add an entry for Ubuntu."

So I guess for my uses, it's alright. Although, I tend to switch back to W7U often because of simplicity.

Started in 1998 with Debian bo. Upgraded to hamm, then potato, woody, sarge, etch, lenny, and finally squeeze. I'm not brave enough to install SID.

At work was hamm, slink, potato, woody, sarge, etch, lenny, squeeze.

Helped install some RH, administer one CentOS, installed Ubuntu on the laptop that Debian didn't start at the moment.

Had Linux on Intel, Alpha, PowerPC, ARM.

I pretty much stick with Windows 7 at this point. It's finally a version of Windows that M$ got right. I see a lot of features though that I first discovered in Linux.

My biggest problem with Linux is that while I find a lot of really cool features with the different distros, I never find exactly what I like in 1. I might like the usability of one, and the GUI of another, with the speed of a third, but can't seem to get one that combines everything. Linux Mint was close though, I have to say.

Linux has been on my second machine for the last 10 years, since I was workin on Unix systems. First RH then SUSE now Ubuntu running on a notebook.

Its great to use on my notebook as only tend to do simple stuff on it. The pain for me is that I use a lot of addon utility programms in windows that I need to find alternatives for with Linux.
Same as Punly the bread and butter machine I earn my wages on is Win 7.

I use rh 14 (x86-64) for everything these days. A little program called "easy life" makes it much simpler to get it running real good.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/easylife-linux/files/easyLife/2.3-3%20for%20Fedora%2014/easylife-2.3-3.noarch.rpm/download

just a few clicks and i was done

Exactly, DocRounder. I have been using Ubuntu pretty much exclusively for the last five years. I am using 10.10 now, with Virtualbox running XP for the rare times I need it. I have converted my entire family and several friends. They love not having the to worry about virus's and I love the stability, since I am their go to guy for their PC problems.
