Davey Jones of the Monkees was a success in the mock group
He was on the Ed Sullivan show as a kid doing a scene from "Olivier" stage musical
That same night, the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan.
Years later, a new rock and roll star could not use his real name, Davey Jones because of the Monkees Davey Jones.
So he used the name David Bowie and became even bigger than the Monkees member.

And it started out as "Long John And The Silver Beetles". Not a spelling mistake. And when James Paul McCartney was asked to join, he refused to do so unless he brought his own drummer. A man by the name of Richard Starkey. Richard was also the oldest of the four.

TOOL--- the band's name stands for how they want their music to be a TOOL to aid in understanding lachrymology (which is the science of crying as a therapy). Lachrymology translates literally to "the study of crying." The basic tenet, evident in the band's music, is that the greatest road to advancement is through pain--emotional and physical. Hence the band's name.

Ronald P. Vincent (supposedly) wrote a book in 1949 called _The Joyful Guide to Lachrymology_ which (supposedly) was the band's original inspiration. Vincent suggested that 'people can only advance themselves by exploring and understanding their physical and emotional pain'.
