bangles i like where ur heads at.

out of those four scotch selections, you'll be probably tapping the black label the most. so far it looks like you have three blended scotches and one single malt. i'd get rid of the chivas for this first order, see if your personal preference leans toward single malt or blended. then you can decide how to refill your collection.

it's a great lookin list.

when i decide to ditch this whole sobriety thing, this will be my bar order...cuz i have a damn nice and damn empty bar right now at my place.

I'm a drinking man's (ex)drinker, so take from my list what you will. For big parties you'll love that Everclear (hunch punch...mmmmm).

Total Bar Order - $1 billion.

EDIT - HOLY SHIT! It's bank! Seeing as how out of the three orignal members of the Drunk Brothers, one is no longer posting here (RBF), one is sober (FO/me) and one is probably still drinking raucously, I'm going to defer all knowledge to bank for his approval.

List looks pretty good....
here's what I'd add (without prices):

Scotch-
Talisker (any year)
Laphroige (Sp?)
Glenkitchie

American Whisky (the good brown stuff)-
Any Jack Daniels
Blantons
Any American Rye Whisky
Any Wild Turkey

Others-
Hapsburg (sp?) Absinthe. That stuff is great.

But, anything with alcohol is great. Seriously. The list is pretty good. Glenlivet's great fucking Scotch. Wished i knew enough about Gin to say something.

tequila sauza?? corazon??? ... i dont think thats a good choice.

you better buy a bottle of Tequila "Tradicional"(soft) or ... "Don Julio Reposado"(strong). those are really good tequilas.

This is quite the fantasy bar, looking at all the expensive and exclusive brands here. Once your guests have had a few drinks, they won't know or care what they're drinking. Many will just guzzle their drinks quickly, and will puke once it hits them. I appreciate the effort put forth by all those who got their lists together, but let's face it, in reality this is not for the uninitiated. This age group at your party will not know the fine nuances of an expensive liquor. This only comes after years of trying different brands, and their tastes will change constantly as they have more experience. Marketing is the biggest factor in the younger drinker demographic group. The companies will advertise their products so as to be known as the " in thing ". So , where am I going with this? Unless money means little to you, and you're trying to impress with your largesse, you will save the better stuff for intimate times, or smaller social gatherings. Check out what the liquor stores and grocery supermarkets have on special, and buy the large bottles. A word of caution, however, if you get the really cheap stuff, it will have too much fusel oil in it, and that will make one sick. ( What? You all don't know what fusel oil is? And you're giving advice to the uninitiated? Shame! ). So if you get hard liquor ( wine and beer contain no fusel oil ) don't get the cheapest, lowest grade, but get something a bit more well-known. Now, if anyone drinks wine and switches to beer, DON'T! It will only make you sick. The reverse is ok, though. In Germany, where drinking wine and beer has been going on for centuries, they have a saying: Bier auf Wein, das lass sein. Wein auf bier, das rat' ich Dir. ( Translation: Beer after wine, leave it alone. Wine after beer, that I recommend to you ). For the wine, a box of California wine from a varietal grape is your best bet. Stay away from any sweet wine, unless you have port or sherry, but they are usually for drinking after a meal. A Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot would usually be a good choice for sippers. In the whites, there are also good choices. Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc are popular. A Gewurtztraminer may be a bit heavy on delicate palates, but ask a clerk for suggestions on your wine choices. And btw, the boxed wine does have some very good choices. Now, if you really want to be thought of as a good host, a keg of German or Canadian beer would be great. It's neat to pump your own draft into a glass; bottles are so mundane at a party. Kegs with pumps should be available from caterers, or they will know where to get one. The liquor stores may also be able to help. You will pay a refundable deposit on the keg, and you can get a much better quality beer than the cheap American run-of-the-mill stuff, unless you prefer a premium American brand. There are also insulating sleeves for the keg, to keep it cold longer. Cost per glass? Much cheaper than per bottle. Now, unless your name is Richie Rich, think of all the extra booze you can buy with a well-thought out list. Ask some older folks ( parents? ) for advice. I'm sure your party will be a success and remembered well. Good luck.

Cool, thanks for your thoughts Wwolff.

While I can't speak for jamison, I don't intend for my list to be used for a party. I just want to get a good respectable bar going for when friends or relatives come to visit. Something worth remembering and all that.

But if I ever plan a party, I'll have to remember everything you said

You seem to know your stuff, would you mind making a few suggestions? How did you acquire your knowledge?

Drinking age is 21 in the states, you can go to clubs (diskoteks) and stuff but you can't drink. And I want to get a good selection at my place when I turn 21.

Any super neat Finnish stuff I should look into adding to my currently non-existent bar?

It seems that googling " fusel oil " does not tell you how to minimize its poisonous effests. The best way to do that is to invert the bottle 2 or 3 times, to mix it up. That way, the first shot out of the bottle won't taste so yucky. Too bad they don't teach this in bartender's school any more. In Russia, the poor farmers would distill vodka out of potatoes, and once in the glass, they would shake pepper onto the top. As the pepper sank, the fusel oil would go with it to the bottom. I heard somewhere that if you drank one ounze of booze from the top of ten undisturbed bottles, presumably via a straw, you would be dead before long. The incomplete distillation, or poor removal techniques, from the cheap stuff is why you get sick, but the better quality booze contains much less, in the finished product.
