A question (mainly for the ladies here)....

Or anyone who has a theory...

Why is it that girls try to hide behind something (a door, towel, etc) when they are wearing panties and a bra, as if we shouldn't see them. But they walk around beaches and pools in a bikini. The same areas of the body are exposed.

So, what's the big deal about being seen in panties and underwear? It must just be a psychological thing, and society says: panties and bra are private, but little bikinis aren't. It really makes no sense, though.

Some underwear is see-through, most bikinis aren't.

True, but like you said, that only explains some underwear. In my experience, most underwear is pretty much like bikinis. And in some cases (rare, but some) bikinis show more skin than underwear does.

You pretty much answered your own question. Society brain washes you into always thinking something one way. Itsy bitsy
bikini-ok normal bra and panties-bad.
Though I have a female friend, before she got married, after I saw her in her bikini she had no problem with me seeing her in her underwear. My wife, on the other hand, had a problem with it. They talked. No more me seeing friend in underwear.

Hmmm. I should change that so more chicks will respond. A little reverse psychology might work...

Attention all females: DO NOT post in this thread! You are strictly forbidden from doing so. Exit now.

It's not the clothes, is the situation.

Do you feel the same seeing a woman wearing a bikini in a beach than seeing same woman in underwear?

I don't think so.

Bikinis, by design, are meant to be worn for show and to show off. I think it is psychological and social. They put them on with the mindset that they will be looked at. Underwear, on the other hand, is just that. For wearing under clothes. It is only meant to be seen under very strict circumstances. No woman who wanted me to see her in underwear ever hid, but that's a deliberate action. If you come across a woman in underwear who is not presenting to be looked at, of course she will hide. i agree with Laurafm. Bikinis and underwear are for totally different situations with totally different connotations. its socially acceptable to wear bikinis in public and show off. Underwear is for more intimate situations, and is not socially acceptable for public viewing.

People (particularly in large groups) are not the most rational, practical or sensible creatures. They are pretty interesting though.
