My name is Eric. EricLindros.
Well, that's not really my name. That's the actual name of a former hockey player. It is, however, the name I chose to use as an online pseudonym for some reason. I tend to use it across a lot of internet platforms, for the sake of continuity. But that's neither here nor there. My point is that Eric is not really my name, it's just one I chose some years ago when I was registering to some site (I think it was Nerve.com) and didn't want to use my real name, and, well, now it's kind of taken on a life of it's own. So when you see EricLindros, on the internet, there's a good chance it's me. I mean, I'm sure other people use it too, because he was kind of a big deal back in the late 90s to early 00s, and I've tried to register as that name at various other sites from time to time only to find it already taken. So it's not 100% guaranteed to be me, but might be.
You see, pseudonyms are a time honored way which allows people to present themselves in a way which is somehow different from their own persona, and are of quite some use in that way. For some people prefer the anonymity because their viewpoints may be controversial, politically troublesome, or otherwise likely to bring a stigma to the author if their works are connected to their real life persona. There is, however, another reason why people in the modern age use pseudonyms; the internet age allows for communication in which one person may assume the persona of another so that they may deceive the audience into believing something that isn't true. Whether this if for personal amusement, sexual gratification or just trolling for its own sake (trolls gonna troll, amirite?!), it occurs with regularity. Because of this reality, one must take the claims of another with a healthy dose of skepticism in such situations, this being one of them.
So, what i'm saying is, if you really are who you say you are, welcome, however unlikely that is.
