Just so everyone knows I recently changed my username. I never realized this site was so easily searched in google. In fact this one may not even be a big enough variation so I might change it again but I couldn't come up with anything on the spot. I kinda wish I would've used a different username from day one so my old username wouldn't be forever stuck in all the quotes. Too many real life people know my standard username and I like my anonymity around here.

So it's still me, nothins changed but the name.

Quick question. Does anybody know what happens to my old username? Is it locked, can I switch back to it, can someone else create an account using it? Just curious.

I've been where you are, my friend. It's unfortunate.

I don't have any shame at all in being a member of this community. I'm proud of it. We don't have any under-aged stuff. The community is big on treating women with respect (though some members seem less focused on that than others). The site is considerate of people - if someone finds a pic they want removed for any reason at all it pretty much comes down right away. There's no weird fetishes, there's no dating, there's no "transactions" of any kind.

We're just dudes (and a few ladies) that enjoy a pretty woman or two. The community is strong and vibrant, and full of intelligent and clever people with a great sense of humor.

I'm proud to be here, and I don't hide it.

But once upon a time I took a job working with children, and the little fuckers (whom I adore - don't get me wrong. I love the lil' turds) did a google on my username and found my account here. I was less than 1000 points from demigod at the time too. The company I worked for knew about the account for a long time, but I didn't want to risk any negative PR or backlash over it.

The result was this account - which is now, finally, almost back to where I was years ago.

I feel your pain, Swiss. I'm sorry to hear that. It's unfortunate that people can't accept that other people are people too, and that rather than attack because of the basic nature of the site (naked girls - sometimes) they don't bother to see all the wonderful things in this community.

Yeah, there are naked women here... But there are naked women all over the place. There's a reason this site does so well when all the others mostly suck, and it has nothing to do with the pictures.

That's not why I come here. I can get these pictures anywhere. I come here for the rest of the community. It's too bad other people don't look beyond the immediate "easy attack button" to see that, and place people like you and I in the positions we have found or now find ourselves in.

Best wishes to you. I hope it works out.

marcel just go to "edit profile" and change your username at the top then click "update" or whatever it says at the bottom. Simple.

@Tarquin: well this is more like preventative medicine for me. I haven't actually encountered a problem yet but I generally use the same username in most places and so I googled it and most of what comes up is WBW related. I guess I should've realized this a long time ago but it just didn't cross my mind until recently. It wouldn't be too bad if the reply quotes were dynamic and changed with the username change. The problem is that the other username is now eternally stuck on google in any thread where someone quoted what I said. 5-10 years from now someone could search it and find the old threads.

That's the problem with the internet, once information is out there it's out there for good. I'd prefer if sites like this weren't indexed by google but I understand Diz needs the site to be searchable so new members can find this place. I guess I should've been smart enough to use a unique username and not my usual. At the same time though when I originally signed up here I had no idea I'd actually participate in the community. The initial sign up was simply to look through the gallery and add faves.

I'm worried now but glad you didn't leave, this site needs its dedicated members like you.

back some years ago someone brought this up...that if you google search your WBW name you'll see most of your posts, but not your P.M.'s. since then i've been mindful about what i post here.

imagine a prospective employer google searching your online name & coming up with a ton of nasty posts on WBW.

Yeah exactly. I don't think there's anyway to tell Google not to index certain aspects of the site. There needs to be though. It would be nice if you could include some code that told google to exclude user names etc. That way topics and so on are still searchable but the users still retain their anonymity. Kinda sucks I've been using the other name for so long, it will more then likely bite me in the ass one day.

Check "Honda_X" in google and see what happens...

I even registered with a throw away email account....u guise r noobz.

But either way, I wouldn't really be all that bothered if anyone found out I surf here...I mostly come to lulz the place up, for me it's less of a porn site, and more of a chat room/blog.

yeah the new name is pretty similar to your old one, but i doubt itll come up in any searches unless youve got.... STALKERS!!!

and in that case, i feel your pain

You know what's really sad? It's easier to go through google to find my own posts, than to just use the site search function...teh fuck?

Hell, I tell most people about the site and ask them to come join up. It was just that one incident with those pesky kids and their little dog...

Hey FeFe nice of you to grace my thread with an appearance. Haven't seen you around in a long time.

Yeah the new name is really close to the old one. It still shouldn't show up in searches. I'm cool with the WBW search now the name change covered that. The problem is just google and all the times people quoted me under the old name.

i googled oghash, i've changed it now and all i found was that apparently i'm a lesbian i think, kind of. I was just a touch worried as most people know me as that and i've posted some photos of people in my circle naked but not to worry

Naked circles are the best circles.

I had a Scooby Doo related situation once. Turned out it was just pirate ghosts.

well I googled my old username just now and surprisingly only 2 results for WBW showed up. That's kind of encouraging. Although I'm not really sure how google handles things. Why would only 2 threads show up when I know I posted hundreds and hundreds of times and have been quoted equally as many times? what makes those 2 threads show up when the others don't?

Maybe I need to do more research on how Google works.

Hmmm... i wouldn't want it to be that easy to find my post, but then again not many people know im on here. the ones that do also have accounts

when i searched my name it came up a buncha steel company's and some dude from Texas and i ain't from TX!

Good thinking Swiss!

ok well I did the google search again this time though I clicked to "show ommitted results" and 100's of WBW threads came up. One was even a link to my profile which linked to the new one. Most were indexed versions of my old username because once you follow the link to the thread my new username was shown. Does anyone know when Google re-indexes a site? In other words when will they recheck WBW and catch all my new usernames instead of the old ones which are still in googles system currently?

Not true. I realized I had this same issue about 6 months ago. I changed my name and periodically checked google again to see if my original name came up in the searches. Six months later, they no longer appear. Must be something on the site that the cached version is replaced/erased after a while? *shrug* All I know is it no longer appears on Google.

*Edit*
So yea, I guess this answers your question directly above this post. Six months to be safe, though it was probably something more like 4-5. I went a few months and didn't check.
