Did you know that few car companies have selled their cars under-priced here, because the high car-tax? By lowering the original price, people would have enough money to buy those "cheaper" cars.

I know that is done in certain countries. We passed a gas guzzler tax here once and some luxury sedans and sports car manufacturers adjusted their prices down a little but those prices are way out of whack. I couldn't afford to buy what I am driving in Finland for sure.

My Honda's annual car tax is ~100 euros. Plus the incurance and other costs. It's still cheap comparing to bigger cars.

It's so fucking funny how our government always nags about Finland's old car population, if those fuckers would lower those taxes, people would buy newer cars in the same minute! They should think about the pollution, safety and other reasons. Almost every new car has many safety controls in it, every car passes EURO4 pollution regulation etc. It'd be so different if people had more new cars.

But no, it's a huge money source to them. I think it's one of the biggest source here. Who would kill the feeding hand.
