The GEO METRO!

I know, I know, but hear me out.
I bought a 5 speed, 3 cylinder, and if I keep it at 55 mph, I average 60 mpg! I haven't done any mods to get that. In fact, the engine is running a little rough and I have a check engine light on. I paid $2,000 for it and put 104 miles+ on it everyday. Definately a deal in my book. Who needs a crappy little hybrid that promises and can't deliver. Just go get a GEO!

BTW, other than getting the engine running right, are there any ideas on anything that can increase my mileage? Open to all suggestions!

GEO's are okay cars for saving gas and all but for someone like me who is 6'4 300 pounds, it just doesn't look right.

Some of you might laugh at this suggestion but you get fuel saver tyres that cause less friction on the road but do save you some petrol. The only thing is you wont get as much grip with these tyres as the reduce friction to the road. You say your engine`s running a bit rough buy some engine treatment, i dont know what you`l get in the states but over here in Scotland we have Redex. You can add Redex to your fuel and/or straight into your carb while the engine`s running. I used it and you should`v seen the dirty exhaust gas that came out my car for a short while, and a cleaner engine is a more efficient engine. Or you could just buy a diesel, with the great performence you can get out of a turbo diesel engine these days and still save on mpg.

From 156 candidates, readers of Germany's "Sport Auto” magazine were asked to choose the "most sporty car of 2002”. Wolfsburg's smallest model proved to be the greatest: the Lupo GTI won the "Small cars” class with a considerable lead over the Mini Cooper and the Peugeot 206 S16. It can sport its laurel wreath and proudly call itself "Sporty Car of the Year, 2002”.

With the body lowered by 20 millimetres, flared wheel arches, side skirts and a voluminous bumper with spoiler and three dramatic air inlets, this power package in concentrated form clearly reveals its performance potential, for instance acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. The powerful engine and systematic weight-saving body design make all the difference. Standard equipment on the Lupo GTI are a six-speed manual-shift gearbox and alloy wheels shod with tyres of equally sporting dimensions: 205/45 R 15.

The Lupo GTI, which has a top speed of 205 km/h, is powered by a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder. Equipper with variable inlet camshaft control, it develops 92 kW (125 bhp), but despite this high power output, it is exemplary in its environmental acceptability: it complies with the Euro 4 exhaust emission limits and is notable for its low fuel consumption, with a test average of only 7.3 litres per 100 kilometres.

Sport seats of special design, a leather-covered steering wheel and aluminium-look pedals create an ambience inside the Lupo GTI reminiscent of the cars that compete for the popular Lupo Cup.
