Hey there everyone.

I see this is not a hugely popular section of the forum but hey I will give it a try on the off-chance anyone has anything they can put in.

I drive a 1999 Holden Vectra, it's a 2.2 litre inline 4 cylinder automatic vehicle which weighs about 1300KG. Very similar to the Opel/Vauxhall/Holden Astra which everyone is rather more familiar with. Like the Astra it is a front wheel drive. It has about 110KW of power.

There is a whole lot of sweet fuck all you can do to this vehicle to make it more powerful. I already have had the exhuast replaced 3 times looking for the right note, and have settled with a 1 into 2 2.25 inch system which runs into dual-twin outlets. Looks/sounds a million bucks.

Here is my theory to creating a Vectra which could take on and beat any Skyline out there (except maybe the TTR34)

Get a late model Opel Calibra (designed on the same platform), strip the 2.5 litre turbocharged V6 engine out of it and replace the Vectras with it. From here you could replace the turbo, BOV and intercooler for more powerful after-market components.
Strip the gearbox and transmission from the Calibra and do a similar job changing components in the cars.
Here's where it gets tricky (like it wasn't before?). Would it be possible to rip the drive train and transfer box and everything out of the Calibra and build it into the Vecra shell? As the Calibra is an AWD it would give it the edge it needs.

Obviously this is a VERY 1 dimensional look at the issue - but I figure if you can swap the engines why not the transmission and drive train as well??

Anyone with experience with either of these cars please don't hesitate to respond!

The mounting points differ. It's going to be one hell of a nightmare to change it all.

But everything's possible. I've seen renault clio with Civic Type-R electronics, tranny and engine! The best fucking french out there.
