K i have a 4 banger dodge shadow no turbo....and i was driving on the highway....and all of a sudden i started to lose power. So i thought i may have blown a plug. I did a tune up and noticed that one plug was real oily. SO i put in a new plug and started the car.... same thing...sounds like im running off 3 cylinders. So i disconnected the wire for that cylinder and started the car ..no differance..so now i know where the problem lies...but i have not figured out the what it is exactly....does anyone know what it might be?? valve problem maybe?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
THanks.......

Sounds like a flooded cylinder if the plug was really oily. Are there any external oil leaks around the block/head area? Maybe a piston ring/seal is shot, causing oil to flow in.

Do you have spark to the cylinder?

No, this deffinately sounds like a seal, although with no external leakage, that leaves a huge question mark that can only be answered by an inspection. Either you drop it and start inspecting, or take it somewhere. You may even want to call and ask a factory that remanufactures engines. Alot of the places will have a customer service department, or someone that is extremely knowledgable and can either narrow doown the cause precisely, or give you a few things to try on your own. Either way by doing this, it will decrease your cost, or the chance of getting screwed at a local auto repair place. Hope something here helped.

do a leak down test and run a compression test...it could be a bad valve...it happened to my ford ranger, when i ran a compression test it would not hold in the number 2 cylinder, so i pulled the head off and i found i had burnt a hole in the exhaust valve...

i am a mechanic in my real life....the leakdown test is probably what needs to be done....but any competent mechanic with experience on these cars might already have a good idea what is wrong...
