i just bought a stock 97 eclipse
and while its already rather low, i would like to lower it about 1.5 - 2 inches

my only concern it the side skirts rubbing speed bumps and other various things at that height, so i was wondering if there was a way to adjust your overall ride height on the fly without installing some ghetto hydraulics?

air bags are the best way to set up a slamed look, while still going over bumps...

I would go with bags, and as long as everything is done right the ride wont be too bad.

hey, figured this would be a good opportunity to jump in here.

why would you want to do something like airbags or hydraulics when there are so many choices in fully adjustable coilovers out there? slamming the car like that and having a super-soft spring rate will only worsen the amount of understeer you will experience.

if you just want the looks and dont care about performance, go ahead and slam it on bags or whatever.

I thought you were going to be a noob to wbw that was banned, and didn't even know the right term for being banned. "Noob suspension question." Boy was I mislead in the title of this thread. I am owed some restitution for being dragged into the car forum.

nice first post...
helpfull and thought out

however

i need to be able to adjust the height from inside the car on the fly... in case i have to go over tall speedbumps or something
i honestly dont care much about the looks... i just like the feel of being low to the ground, and even though its a wide car already... the added drop in weight would still improve the handling

On the fly ride height adjustment comes with air bags. Just be sure to go over the entire system if you install one; looking for air leaks and such things, of course.

If you have adjustable height suspension, more than likely you can't get a good alignment for the car because the toe and/or camber will change as the car raises up and down. (due to the differences in the lengths of the control arms.

I would discourage it. I put Tein H Lowering Springs and Tokico Illumina Adjustable shocks on my 2001 Nissan Maxima. I liked the look, but hated the ride. I would bottom out over every little bump. I ended up putting the factory springs back on in conjunction with the Tokico adjustable shocks. To be on the safe side, I installed 'bump stops' as well. Roads in my area are rough, and I need a comfortable ride more than the 'sportier' look of having the car lowered. Sounds like you have a pretty cool car to begin with.... don't fuck it up.

just put some citroën hydrolics underneath it... car rides at constant height, but once you turn of the engine, the whole car sinks to the ground... maybe something like that, it comes with a lever on the center concole so you can adjust the height at anytime to your own taste, or the road you're on...
this is just a gif of a DS, most of the top class citroëns have these type of suspension...
