I have been looking for a car for a few months now and all I like is European cars but people tell me not to buy them because they would be hard to maintain or fix due to the fact that i live in the US. I don't know how true this is but someday i will buy one. when i have the money that is

for now there is a chance of me buying a Nissan Maxima 1998 from some guy but im not sure how good this car is. anyone opinions? anyone owns this car? opinions on the car will be appreciated.

I don't have any details on the car other than the make and year.

thanks in advance.

priced about thirty five hundred US$

My fiance's mom had a Maxima, and had plenty of problems. Of course it could have been just a problem with her car, and not so much with Maxima's in general. Before I shop for a car, I google "problems with --Car Model--" , and see what it says. With my chevy malibu, a common problem was the upper intake manifold, aside from that, scattered bitching. I did have a problem with the manifold, but after replacing it, it's been solid, and a great car. Do your homework before you buy.

i currently drive a 1993 maxima that has 166,000 miles and have had no major problems to date. now that i am writing this message it will probably die tomorrow but it has been a good car. my wife has also owned a 2002 and 2005 maxima but only put 35,000 on one and 18,000 on the other. so no problems with either one of them

Wanna talk about quality?

This is our second Maxima. We had a 1988 Maxima , 5sp, replaced tranny at 135k car died at 232K. Superb car.

Currently, have a 1997 Maxima GXE, Auto, 267k bought car brand new. Just tires, brakes and oil plus reg maintenance. No problems. Orig trans which has been checked and works perfectly. Car gets less use now but still is driven weekly. Neighbor kid want to buy it for $1500. Might be worth less or more..haven't checked.

My advice is that a used Maxima or Camry are superb buys if the owners have done regular maintenance on the ride.

Check consumer reports......

my Dad once had a '75 Maxi in Orange. Do NOT buy one of these by mistake - they are awful !!!

My brother has 1996 maxima and has no problems at all aside from the regular maintenance. It has 130,000 miles.
