Well, I see where you are going. I've have owned three Volvos over the 15 years. 2 of those were pre-Ford and 1 post.

I was concerned as well that Ford ownership would diminish the quality of Volvo which is in my opinon, very high. I had a particular Volvo that I put 40K miles on and it never went into the shop for anything other than scheduled maintenance.

I have driven cars made by Chevy, Ford, VW, Audi, Infinity, Saab, and Volvo and the Volvos have always proven to be the best manufactured cars.

My understanding is that Ford has not fooled with Volvo. While there is no question of the lack of intelligence in Dearborn, MI someone was smart enough to leave Volvo (and Aston Martin) alone. Unlike Jaguar, sadly who Ford has screwed with,Volvo is an autonomous division. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Your experience with Volvo is better than that of my friends and associates. I have never had one. My experience with Ford and with Jaguar, both pre and post Ford, has led me to Toyota. They just go and go. Change the oil, brakes, and put in a new timing belt every 100,000 miles. For me, having it just start and go every time, year after year, is the ideal car. Once I started flying, the need for nifty sporty cars was replaced by an activity that transcends in every way.

That's what happens with Toyotas. They are great cars, so are Infinitis. They just don't excite me very much anymore.

I love the Audi I am driving now but I have been to the dealership with one problem or another probably on average once a month for the last 2 years. Almost as bad as the Ford I used to drive.
