so im thinking of a new project car something from the 70's era with out a computer or one thats easyily gutted. I'm a motor head from way back. rebuilt a '69 350 & promply blew the 10 bolt posi ...lmfao no j/k. need a game plan inplace before i make a move.

1. looking for something that will accept a 350 cid motor & a 12 bolt rear.
2. size of car doesn't matter as long as i think it's cool
3. was actually thinking of a '77 caprice classic... my mom had one with trailer towing package. when it was factory new it would bunny hop even with a posi rear.. untill us boys got a hold of it.

like always ABD

Here's what I know about cars:

1. Put the key in the ignition.
2. Turn key forward.
3. Depress accelerator pad.

I can also change gears, and drive quite well.

But if steps 1,2 and 3 do not result in a drivable car.......... I'm lost.

Mid 70's camaro's are always cool and not nearly as hard to find as a late 60's. But that's me. If I was going to do a hot rod or restore, I'd do a truck.

you can put a 350 in just about anything and as for a 12 bolt, if you have one you need to figure out what car will accept that width and if it a gm 4 link style or leaf spring type... just figure out what you like and go from there... i have a 71 camaro and a 74 vega so i like all kinds of cars... i really like the older ones but you have to figure out your budget...

I would do a wagon, I'm a truck guy but I think wagons are cool. I have a rodded 49 Studebaker truck and a 97 dakota mini truck.

anyone know how high a compression ratio can be before your motor starts pinging --- 93 octane im thinking 10.5:1

10.5:1 is a little close 11:1 and you'll ping without racing gas.

they say the highest you can safely go is 9 1/2 to one with iron heads and 10 1/2 to one with aluminum heads...

you can get away with a little more compression with some of the better combustion chambers now and with efi and all the sensors...
