Maybe you could shoehorn a turbo 3.8 from a Grand National in there? That would be quite the engine mod

If you want high speed performance (keeping mind it is a grand am) you could put a hypertech chip in it. They make em fer everything. First step however, is cold air intake. The cheapest horsepower mod you could want. Next, if you know cars, change out the old, 7lb fuel injectors for 20-25 pounders, and you should see some real pep. Just some serious suggestions.

just curious, but how would increasing the injector size increase power in his car? His stock ecu will still compute how much fuel/air he needs and inject accordingly. He hasn't made any other mods forcing enough/more air into his cylinders to necessitate the need for more fuel or adding it quicker.
I would suggest tuning, or the hypertech chip route later after more mods have been installed. Chipping an otherwise stock car would be like replacing the stock ecu with another ecu that is the same.
Tuning takes in to account what mods you have and equates them into how much better (than stock) you can burn fuel/air. Unless the oem ecu has completely choked off how much power a stock engine is capable of then there won't be significant gains. Usually manufacturers will sacrifice performance for fuel economy in regular commuter cars but even if you did chip now i assume you'd only be able to extract a few more horsepower.
I would just wait to chip or tune later, after you opened up the airways a bit. After that if you begin experiencing symptoms of running lean (maybe get an A/F gauge) then go for an upgraded fuel system.
*I'm coming from the b-series engine camp, so I could be completely wrong about the above info if pontiacs are extremely different.

i took the decals off already so it's a solid contrast of black tint and all white paint job, and as for the hypertech chip, i was looking like a month ago at all the places that sell chips, and i have yet to find one that will fit my car. I mean if you know something i don't, i would LOVE for you to prove me wrong, lol, that would be sweet. And i appreciate all your help, i will look into all of it.

oh yea, i forgot, and as for the wheels go, i bought them becuase they were a friends and in perfect condition, i got them for 800 dollars and it included 4 brand new tires also, I am plannin on selling the rims and trying to find an affordable (but nice looking) set of lighter rims, any suggestions and prices on those would be cool too!

Not sure if they make apps for domestics but check out Rota wheels. They make some really light rims popular in SCCA autoX and also they have some that are knockoffs to some expensive ass rims like volk te37s, spoons, and mugens. Rota is popular in the honda/acura scene but they could make some for yours. btw, any new mods to your car yet?

unfortunatly there are no new mods on it, i don't have the money, i only have a summer job for now so the winter is rough on money, hopefully soon i will but i can't promise anything, school and other needs come before my car, i like messin with cars, but it isn't my life, thanks for the help again man, i will check out that site! looks like it's knockoffs for me though! lol

heh, that's cool man. good luck with your car. here's the link to rota...http://www.rotawheels.com/our_wheels.htm there's nothing wrong with knockoffs, not everyone wants to spend a grip on their cars!
just got to make sure that the quality is up to par with your standards.

Ok, first off, I did say cold air intake shoudl be first, then a chip, then injectors, which would definitley increase performance. Also, it being a Grand Am, you need to look where you can for performance increases. Although, depending on what year the car is, you could always just spend huge cash, and supercharge the thing, but I figured that would be a bit much. As for chips, hypertech doesn't make one for the Grand Am specifically, but if it's a 6 cyl, why not just steal the computer out of a firebird of the same year, with the same engine, and chip that instead. One more thing, found this after one quick search, not sure if it's what you'd be interested in. Again, just trying to be helpful.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33597&item=2465505445

Stealing the computer out of an F-body would be a big mistake. The 4th generation F-body is available in two engines....the Series II 3800V6 and the 5.7V8 LS1....and I think you said earlier it was a 3.1 V6. Even if I am wrong about this...it wouldn't matter because most late model GM's have an internal chip that you don't replace. It has to be reprogrammed, if anything (Hypertech makes a powerprogrammer, but it is pretty expensive).
If this was my car, I'd:
1-Skip the cold air induction. It doesn't make that much of a difference on a small engine, which only can hold so much air. Some of my buddies bought the Moroso elbow intake for their LT1's and actually LOST horspower. Take my word for it, alot of the cold air induction crazy is just hype (and money in partmakers' pockets.) Instead, just keep an eye on your paper filter and replace it when needed. I recommend Fram...they hold up better than Deutsche, Purolator, or STP, and have wider fold gaps.
2-Forget the supercharger or engine swap. For the price of this, you could almost trade in the car and get something more mod-able.
3-A good set of tires (and possibly rims). If you live somewhere warm with no snow, I suggest the Brigestone Potenza series (good grip, good price). But, take my word for it, if you ever have to drive in snow (even in a FWD car) it will be tough.
4-Keep up with regular service (oil, etc).

Forgot to mention the 3.4 liter is also available in the 4th gen f-bodies, but it is a less than memorable engine.

lol phil.
downtowndaddy, I agree with those recommendations.
If you don't plan on going to far with your car then keep it simple. Stay on top of the maintenance, get some good tires. (i agree with those potenza's, heard nothing but good things. expecially with the SO3's) and enjoy driving.
May i also recommend the K&N oem replacement air filters. I've heard good reviews on just getting their drop in's.

Check e-Bay for the K&Ns if you take that route. I have seen new ones on there from time to time.
Yea, I know the maintenance thing kinda goes without saying, but I just hate seeing a good car go bad because someone abused it.
