There was a sad time for Harleys in the mid to late 70's, I believe, when the company was under foreign ownership. This was the dreaded time where the bad reps started. The production values were disregarded during that time, but once the original family bought back the company, things were set straight. I have a 100th anniversary Sportster that I chose for my first bike...
Why?
Not too small by any standards, not too big to handle for a beginner, and Harleys hold their value because the are JUST GOOD BIKES...
End of story.
My dream Harley is a Springer Softail, but I've designed a custom bike of my own that I WILL build someday.
