probably not that expensive. have you seen how much a laser pointer costs? $3 at a gas station, and it says the car would only have one. spark plugs are $2 or more each, and your car takes at least 4.

Doesn't seem that bad. It may be expensive to develop, but the government grant coupled with the fact it's going in to high end cars should cover that. Besides, you will probably get your money back from the laser system/spark plugs change from increased fuel efficiency. Couple it with the incoming Dual Injector system from Nissan (link below) and you will have a much more efficient and powerful engine. We'll see if Ford and Nissan can combine efforts.

But, seriously, is it worth developing more in petroleum based technology anymore? Better Place is building infrastructure that will replace batteries in EVs in Israel, Denmark, Australia and now Toronto, Canada. The batteries are also "rapid-charged" in 10-15 minutes. Sounds like Ford is working on a technology that, while could help, should be skipped.

I'm in favor of this only if the lasers are strapped to the heads of sharks.

Is it too much to ask for a car with a freakin' laser?!

Really the only expensive part of this will be the repair if needed.
