I have a friend that has owned several Super Dutys and I have witnessed him drag backward and outrun a many of HD's of course they have all been tinkered with you know programmers and some with propane injection but what is your opinion and what have you seen! P.S. the tinkering on both the Ford and Chevrolet so there is no confusion in my wording.

I know a couple guys who have both..they're a bit older, I've heard the ford is good...but chevy is better in a few ways. I'm sure some of the car guys will be able to get into specifics on which is better..

uhm- I heard the Honda XTR in a "ghey superduty" is quite the reliable "ride"

depends... both are good in their own ways , both equipped with manuals are beasts, however if you going for an automatic stay away from the ford their trannies are not that strong they use plastic gears for the final drive wich tends to strip , i know mine stripped twice in 6 months on the 250...and it's around $2000 each time to fix it...
Chevrolet uses the new allison transmission wich are almost bullet proof.the ford has from expierence a better low gear pull then the chevy does.tooth for tooth i think they are pretty much alike.(except for the auto trannies) it's all a matter of preference.

It depends on what you are trying to do. I have a heavily modified 2500 HD, my Avitar, and love it. However i have been involved with modifying Chevy, Dodge, and Ford Diesels. You tell me what you are trying to do and i will tell you which one is better, i will even attempt to do it from a non-bias point of view.

Mainly trying to figure out which one performs best under pressure as far as being a work truck pulling lots of weight on a regular basis.Quote:

They are all three going to perform well. The Dodge and the Fords are most likely a better bet if you are going to be towing through construction sites, the solid front axles make them a little better under loaded off road application. The 2007 dodges went to a coil over suspension that i haven't messed with so the prior statement is reserved for the 2006 and older models. On road hauling, i think the Chevy is most likely the better bet. A lot of this is also dependent on the engine model. In my experiance the Chevy's have in general had better fuel milage also, and at $3.50 a gallon that is starting to become a factor. The 7.3 Power Strokes were great engines and the truck models they were in are exelent work trucks, just make sure you have a standard behind them. The newer Fords had very shitty engines that looked great on paper but had a lot of issues that hurt them. The trucks were fine the motors were just a little rough. I haven't been around fords new Twin Turbo yet so i can offer a lot of info on them either. The Dodges are a great truck too, there motors have always been strong, you can't go wrong with a Cummins. They are the same as the fords in the respect that your best bet is the standard, the automatic trannies are a real weak point. All of the Duramax engines have been good, and the Allison tranny behind them, make them the best if you want an auto. They also have independent front suspension that makes their on road ride much smoother especially unloaded. All of this is assuming that there are no mods done to the vehical, once you put that into the equation things change a bit. I hope my long winded answer helps, if you have any other questions let me know and i will continue.

every pulling contest i have been to, its either a dodge cummins or a duramax with an allison tranny that wins. i know a few guys that work for ford and they both bought v-10s because they said the ford diesel is so horrible. I would say a stock duramax would drag a stock f250 power stroke around no problem
