Yeah, but the GT40 wasn't actually a Ford Watty, it was British with a Ford badge stuck on the bonnet

Yeah, like I said - they been manufactured in the UK for like 3 less years than in the States - So a British built Ford is as genuine as any American version. They been sticking Ford badges on the bonnets of british cars since way before either of us was born...

Riiiiight - so that's how Toyota and the rest already killed the British car companies and are about to kill the American ones too...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Ford cars are crap - it's just that American car companies don't have long to survive that's all. Too much out of date / low technology product, too much healthcare and pension plan defecit. I really hope they survive (I have a Saab which is GM) but I fear not...

You are right about the Japanese Cars taking over... but I feel the american car companies are too big to take down as a whole. but they can be broken down. The Japanese car companies are subsidized by the[blacklisted]ernment. It's crazy the amount of money our car companies pays the g_overnment in taxes. The Korean car companies are working the same way that the japanese companies. getting tons of money from the g_overnment. Hyundai is getting very popular here and Kia as well. daewoos aren't here anymore as daewoos but at least one came back as chevy. But only time will tell... I just know most car companies are not doing well in the US. Only high end cars are selling consistantly.

the problem with american companies is that they make models for the US market only, and all other branches dont make the same models. i've seen nice american cars but cant tell if theyre good or bad because they never left United States, and that sucks.

A spoke to a Ford guy at a recent auto-show in Montreal.
Funny thing about the GT: it was recently made legal in Canada. The reason is was illegal was not because of it's trumendous power, but because of a front bumber safety issue. So they are shipping only 200 GTs in Canada (1 per dealership). These things will be bought (or are already bought) and will be re-sold 5x the price.

The Shelby is not technically a Ford. Carroll Shelby's plant is outside of Las Vegas. What Ford gets wrong, Carroll fixes.

Further on this topic, I saith naught.
