OK, here is the lowdown for all the europeans who should really learn more about cars than bolting on plastic junk. A truck of that size will have a diesel engine. If you listened back in chemistry class you would know basic fuel and combustion theory. And, if you listen to the media and popular science, you would also know of the great leaps in bio-diesel technologies, both mass produced and "home brew". I can get bio-diesel for less than 80c a litre, or make it for 10c a litre. Oh yeah, as a green fuel, it does not contribute to green house gases, as do all these tiny little unsafe euro cars. I love sitting at a light , towering over an old Mini full of protester pseudo-environmental hippies, knowing that me and my jacked up off road beast are not polutting and their polluting away and thinking they are sooooo smart and politically correct. Better living through science, not through uninformed stupidity and arrogance. Sooo, I will continue to laugh at all these tiny tin cans driving around, the beemers and merc's pissing away their money on fuel and be comfortable above the traffic in my jacked up off road machine. Chip it and bio it...life is good. Oh yeah, I also burn zero fossil fuels at home...not bad for a country redneck. Suck mud boy racers!!!!

We have been using "bio" fuel for ages in our deisels for ages!
Its free too.
Just go down your local chippie, ask the owner for his used vegtable oil, filter it and whack it straight into the tank.
The only downside is filtering it (messy) and the smell (smells like chip shops!)

Ok, ok. Just relax, will ya?

"Bio" diesel is all fine if you really use it. And yeah, it's main advantage is that you don't use any fosile ressources, but plants that re-grow. Obviously, if everyone used it you'd need quite some space to grow all that stuff...

Anyway, while I'd say it is better than your usual petrol or diesel, you still burn stuff, right?
You still produce CO2 even though something between 30% and 80% less than with ordinary fuel.
And, according to some other studies, biodiesel produces quite some emission of small particles and NOx, which is obviously bad and may result in cancer. Biodiesel produces more NOx than usual fuel (according to said study).

So, if you drive one of these huge trucks on biodiesel, which probably takes something like 25-30l/km of petrol, you surely produce as much, if not more, emission than said Mini next to you.
