Ive got tinted rear lights and the standard bulbs aren't visible enough in daylight. At night they're fine but obviously thats not good enough. Ive tried some 'ultra bright' LED type bulbs but they looked dimmer than before. plus they only shine in a straight line so dont reflect around the lens. The standard ones are 12v 21w. Can you get more powerful ones for example 40w? Any help would be great thanks

Thats the problem with some tinted lenses there not legal in the UK and that also applies for an M.O.T and not British saftey approved, you might be better paying a bit more and get a set thats legal.

You would have to change your lenses.

Just for future reference 24 LED bulbs work great, they shine around as well as forward so they fill the lens completely. They can be picked up pretty cheap on ebay. Thanks for the input tho

Do you have a new car with advanced driving computer? New cars have technology which keeps track of every light bulb you have in your car. If the front light goes down, it will give you a warning. If so, I think you should forget LED's. The power consumption of led is really fucking small compared to normal halogen bulb. The car has been designed to use halogens and to it's consumption, when you change a LED inside, the computer thinks the normal bulb is broken because the LED takes so little power. Your dashboard will shine like a christmas tree after that. And you may not want to keep that light on, if it's always on, you don't know when there's a real breakup of a bulb.

This has been tested so many times, the only solution is to solder a resistor on the LED bulb, so it takes more power. Ridiculous huh? You have a nice piece of technology which actually saves power, but you have to make it eat more power just to work correctly.
