hmm, as for fuel injector cleaners...i've used the chevron fuel system cleaner and also the STP if i remember correctly. I haven't read any reviews/articles lately on which performs the best. But I've heard that the Chevron/ techron brand is good. From personal experience I haven't noticed any big changes after using the products.
btw, nice pic to add to the post!

I usually just buy the basic STP cleaner...between 1 and 2 bucks.

When you buy the ones in fancy bottles and bold labelling, you are usually just paying for the same product in flashy packaging. One of the oldest tricks in marketing!

i use BG products at work, BG is the most powerful, top of the line, cleaner out there. if you can get the full BG Fuel induction service, (where a cleaner is sprayed as a mist into the throttle body as the vehicle runs) is best. at my shop it runs about 99$. the nissan and BMW dealerships use the same system, as do most other dealerships.

and 44k is part of the new BMW regular matenince in the owners service manual, so if its required by BMW its almost gotta be top notch. like the synthetic oils they demand...

the 44k is basically the same chemical as techron, in the chevron gas times 200, concentrated. thats why it is only supposed to be used evry 15,000 miles. as opposed to the STP crap where you are told to use it every time you fill up your tank.

you cant buy bg products in stores... its not offered retail. you can buy it in mechanics shops and dealerships. actually just goto http://www.bgprod.com/ and use the BG find a shop...

ive had no problem with use on older cars. i use it all the time on my 1973 cadillac sedan deville, and my 1982 honda custom 900 bike.

you might also want to look into the bg MOA product, an awesome oil additive. additives never hurt, cause those chemicals make oil, engine oil.

I only say all this because it is what I have been told by my fraternity brothers who are in 4th year automotive engineering classes (all members of SAE and Project Hybrid), friends who work at dealerships, and several professional automotive engineers....that most of your garden variety fuel additives are one in the same. I have heard of BG Products, but I'll ask around some more about them.

STP never says to add it every tank, that's simply pissing away money. If you have a car less than a few years old, you don't need any of this stuff. If you do....then you need to strongly consider where you are buying gas. Most fuels have added detergents preventing this pretty well.

I am by no means rich, so I'll stick with the products I use (including STP Injector Cleaner) as opposed to higher-priced and marginally-better products.

Don't know if you can get it, but Redline has never done me wrong with any of their products, and their injector cleaner is top notch. I have cured several mystery rough running problems on friends cars with one can of this stuff. Plus it is approved by BMW and Audi for OEM use. So you know its not snake oil.
