Are mopeds sold in your country new/about to make a stateside comeback?

Are mopeds sold new in your country at dealerships? And no, I do NOT mean scooters, I mean *mopeds*....with step-through, lightweight frames, tires comparable in size to those on a typical bicycle, maybe some pedals and engines generally sized from 50-70 CCs with one cylinder. I wish they sold them here in the US like they used to but I think with gas prices going sky high as they are, they're poised for a comeback. A LOT more people are getting on two wheels here. Just why they stopped selling them stateseide is a mystery. They were here through the 80's and then just kind of vanished.

Scooters are okay but they have that one fatal flaw, no matter how much horsepower they want to add to them: those suicidally tiny, unstable little kiddie wheels.

Yes it's good to be back. Now with the zillions of foreigners here, will someone please tell me something about mopeds in your locale? At least one of you has to live in a country where they sell these things. Talk to me, people! Anyone here ridden one?

The bicycle company - Motobecane - used to make mopeds. I just googled moped and there was a Batavus available... they make bicycles too.

I have a Honda Elite 150 (scooter) and get about 65 MPG. I used to have a Yamaha 50 ... but it was just plain to slow. Moped's are kind of cool... but then I'm a bicycle fanatic (yeah.. I was going to have a two wheeled Avy.. but somebody else is using it!!!! ).

It's a moped, not a car. You can put a moped in a car but it's not car. It's a moped.

A moped would come handy for getting groceries up the street.

we even have a town called the national capital of mopeds, the town name is chacabuco

only kids ride them around here, those things are way too slow. (although I had a 15 bhp aprilia RS in my days, sweet ride that was, sigh... )

Yeah, many kid in Finland has a moped. I never wanted one, because I was waiting the drivers license so bad. Mopeds suck balls.

The law changed here few years ago, you need to have moped-license to drive one. That is so retarded shit. Mu money to government.
