I bought a Volvo.
Yes. I did buy a FWD against all my principles from an online auction site. It's a 1992 Volvo 440 2.0i with a lot of extras (although almost everything would be fitted as standard in a 2006 car): power windows (front and rear), power steering, 40/60 back seat, alloy wheels for summer tires, fog lights (rear and front), central lock, heated power mirrors, heated seats. Three last items might actually have been standard even in 1992 in Volvo, but definitely not in every car in the cheap-piece-of-shit price category. It has just 283 megametres and everything seems to work perfectly. It has a little rust, though.
The car cost me just 500€ (seen these things for sale for > 2000&euro
. The insurance is ridicilously expensive, though, around 700€ a year. Guess people just tend to crash these things a lot.
It lacks just two things that I'd hope it had: ABS and AC. On the other hand, back in 1992 AC has been a VERY expensive extra, especially in a low-end family hatchback like this.
Next I will install a decent audio system (Peerless Definition 5 front speakers + Peerless Resolution 10 sub + SPL Dynamics S-2604 amp + probably a Pioneer MP3 player) which will cost more than the car did...
