Audi A4. 22 MPG city/30 MPG highway
That's not so bad of an idea actually..
I use Audi as the answer to pretty much every car question.

Hard to believe, but the 2012 Camaro LFX V6 is lighter-weight and more powerful–323 horses more powerful with the same impressive fuel efficiency: 30 MPG highway5 on the 6-speed automatic transmission 2LS. The dual overhead cam engine gives you heart-racing performance. Direct injection and variable valve timing combine to ensure you're getting the most out of every mile. This is one high-tech, low-down, powerful engine.
If unbridled power is what you're after, the aluminum Camaro SS 6.2L V8 engine offers 426 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque befitting its aggressive reputation.

the 2012 ford focus and fiesta both get 40 mpg. they're a little small, but they look good and they're OK every day type cars
Buying an Audi A4 S line next month. Can't go wrong with MPG, Performance and sporty as hell.
PS. The 2012 BMW 328i is also great combo of MPG, Performance and looks.
Honda CRZ, if nothing but for the namesake, and Mini Cooper both get upper 30's mpg and have decent looks and acceleration FWIW.
I've had a 2012 Ford Fusion SE for half a year now and the MPG is a solid 34 with a heavy foot, its sporty, but not like my old audi a4... unlike my a4, i'm not worried about having an expensive repair however. I'd highly recommend at least taking out a Fusion for a test drive to see how they like it.
I agree with 1000fc. Also had a 2010 Fusion SEL (Loaded, AWD & V6), nice car. I have been reading great things about the 2013 Fusion. Unfortunately, it doesn't come out til Fall.
Lia, you gotta get rid of the Expedition, that thing is killing the planet! Ha! Also, your pocket book.
The thing with German cars like the Audi is they're really expensive to fix.
My choice would be a Mazda 3. Hugely popular, great on gas, and not gay.
Either that or you could do what I just did and buy an RX-7

My Expedition is 2000 model, she has 62000 miles, and no rust. I named her Christine after the car in the movie with that name, she always runs like a charm for me. She is so good and dependable she still has the factory installed battery in her. I jus change the oil every 2000 miles like my daddy taught me, and put good gas in her and she takes care of me.
luv ya all......
